Problem:
I see the OP Melee still here with the npc’s being able to run after you 3x faster than you can run away and combat roll 20m across the room. So as far as gameplay is concerned it is a guaranteed npc kill of you and which ever teammate is around you. The reason for this being in the game is beyond all who play and only the Dev’s know why they need this mechanic so OP.
Solution:
NO NPC Melee while in cover.
This will support the playstyle the dev’s are promoting and make the gameplay more enjoyable for us.

The problem here I think is that the roll mechanic is not responsive (double tapping x). Your character gets confused if he or she is near a wall when you tap x and may accidentally go back in to cover. Plus the same problem is there from the Div 1. The cover is too stick and it quite hard to peel away from the wall in an emergency. Although I love the cover system I think it needs a look.
The real issue I am pointing to is there needs to be a better solution than a Guaranteed NPC Melee Kill.
In D1 what I am saying about npc speed and combat roll is unfortunately true. The mechanic had made it to D2 and there could be another more enjoyable solution to the Guaranteed NPC Melee Kill that adds gameplay diversity and supports the Dev’s mechanic.
