I mean i laughed when i first thought about it. Then i realized that ara is a hybrid heavy again and our kit is tiny. Also our current full block fast flows at a slower rate than black priors does. This can be proven by testing it out on nuxia deflects. Black prior can bulwark counter a nuxia deflect. Aramusha cannot full block a nuxia deflect.
Some people might claim this would overtune aramusha, but it absolutely wouldnt in any way compared to the black prior. (No undodgeables, still no opener bashes, still no real opener to speak of, similar speed attacks still, same gb weakness.)
If this were to magically happen tho i would want the aramushas full block to still be atrack vulnerable rather than invulnerable regardless.
But ability to full block bashes would be lovely and of course it still has the same weakness of guard break.
Just really think about it. Gut punch response i think most people would say no to aramusha having a fullblock that also blocks bashes. But really think about why you feel that way. If it would be overpowered then dont you think black priors is overpowered?
Just some food for thought.
Jeezus. The ignorance on the Bulwark is remarkable. I understand that this game has more fantasy in it now than reality, but the physics are still mostly reality based. So, if I rush towards you while you're just standing with your arms up, what will happen if I hit you? You get staggered, probably.
Now if I rush you and you duck, then grab my legs and stand up, what happens? I probably go over your head and land on my back.
Get it now?
...... actually your the one who didnt get it here. It was a joke see the end of this post. As a counter response cause you decided to bring up physics:Originally Posted by RoosterIlluzion Go to original post
I commented nothing on the physics or reality of the manuever. Of course the black priors shield manuever makes more sense. Also blade blockading in a similar fashion a bash would take an alternative form such as a subtle movement during which the enemies bash is impaled on the aramushas sword rather than a throw. Doesnt take a genius to figure out itd require a lot of animation work to get right.
Also doesnt take a genius to figure out a counter to bashing could just be a properly placed steady sword to impact with the bashers body. Jiang jun execution anyone? He just stands there while the opponent impales themselves. Which with how big his glaive is would actually not work that way either...
Additionally bulwark counter on valkyrie sweep makes no sense physic wise so theres that.
But finally please do note this topic was about it as a joke coming from a perspective of balance meant to get people to think objectively about how powerful a tool bulwark counter is, and how many complaints there would be if such a tool was just handed to any other existing hero in the game.
Aramusha needs some polish but I don't think giving him the ability to punish deflects is really the way to go as it wouldn't solve any of the kits issues.
Just looking at blade blockade alone i'd make the follow up from ring the bell be a heavy finisher. This would actually give a mix up for him since you can deadly feint finishers. And since ring the bell is typically your go to punish for blade blockade it just makes his kit overall flow more.
I'd make fury unleashed guaranteed on heavies. It's main issue right now is that it's super inconsistent. There are times when it gives it to you when you wouldn't think it would. And there are times where it doesn't give it to you when you think it would. Just check out "anime expert's" videos. He's currently going through all the factions and figuring out when fury does and doesn't land. So far he's done the samurai and vikings.
For his kick i'd shorten the distance on it and let you flow directly into his forward dash heavy. This is a stamina damage counter plus mix up potential since you have armor on forward dash heavy and it is feintable. And when you're near a surface you can still splat someone into it for a side heavy or top heavy. I'd also like you to be able to soft feint into his kick from combo heavies (not heavy finishers) and this kick would have armor and normal range. this gives him spacing mid team fight. And if he knocks the enemy into another enemy that's a benefit for him.
Twin vipers is mostly fine as is. As iirc you can soft feint it into a top light. The main problem is that it has no real forward movement or tracking. So someone can easily just walk backwards with their guard up top and be safe from the whole thing. I'd personally shorten the attack speed by 100ms to put it more inline with the stunning tap mix up on raider in terms of reaction. Then give it some tracking/movement.
This of course doesn't fix his other main problem. Which is people being able to back dash on heavy indicator to avoid a deadly feint mix up. He needs to be able to have some kind of chase down that he can get from deadly feint in order to punish this. And his combo attacks (both speeds and damage) need to be adjusted.
Actually im working on a video about aras full block right now too cause the black priir mythbuster ones got me thinking. Fury unleashed is just extremely inconsistent. Sometimes javing a guard in position top before the blockade blocks sometimes it doesnt. Also sometimes the hyper armor doesnt kick in fast enough to stop you from being staggered (trigger BB on 3rd hit of shamans zone and this occurs.) The only option on 3rd hit of shamans zone is ring the bell or you get clipped out before the heavy armor kicks in. Ill link my video tho its gonna be fairly amatuerish when its done here.
Yes you can soft feint on twin vipers. Still the main point of this topic was just to get people thinking about the power bulwark counters fast flow holds.
Ring the beel into heavy finisher for feint game would be fun.
As far as chase down. I would kill for a tiandi speed side dodge undodgeable attack. Honestly if only rhis was implemented id be happy for a long time. Still needs some kinda opener at some point tho.
Please feel free to share the video here when it's ready.Originally Posted by Vendelkin Go to original post
I haven't seen a lot of threads that talked about balance from the perspective of a thought experiment rather than a "make x better/worse," so I found your hypothetical pretty interesting.
Any ballpark estimates, Knight_Raime?And his combo attacks (both speeds and damage) need to be adjusted.
My apologies then I misunderstood the opening post.Originally Posted by Vendelkin Go to original post
I'd revert the damage buffs they gave Aramusha when they touched him last. Then remove the 200ms delay in between each attack in combo. it used to be 100ms in between each attack. That's about it. I personally don't like how the top light was nerfed to be 500ms in combo instead of 400ms. But I can understand that if he gets his old 100ms between attacks back on top of his current deadly feinted lights being 400ms in all directions it would be overkill to have 400ms combo attacks.Originally Posted by UbiInsulin Go to original post
I'd rather they make his combos better through other means like giving him a soft feint on heavy and/or heavy finisher that enables chase down along side his deadly lights. That way his combos are real threats and overall flow more evenly.
A buff Aramusha thread you say? Lemme just sneak my old rework notes in:
- Give him access to deadly feint immediately from his top heavy from neutral so he doesn't have to whiff his first light to get into it.
- Let him soft cancel his heavy finishers into Ring the Bell.
- Give him the ability to use his kick mid chain after any light attack.
- Let him soft cancel his heavy finishers into dash forward heavy to catch opponents who roll back. Increase its tracking so it is more viable as a chase tool.
