"Had to use" the repair drone

Did anyone else feel it was almost mandatory to run the repair drone?

Of the skills we could choose from there was nothing else that I thought compared in value, and it was almost necessary to use to survive if playing solo.

The auto turret was by far the next best skill we had available

Yes, I felt that I had to use the repair drone to survive. With the PVE running at you with bombs and the granades that were over the top. It was hard to take off the bullet proof vest panels fast as they were always there in your face.

I think one heal skill will be pretty standard for most builds. Which is fine. It's not going to be the only skill that can heal you.

Nope, Seeker and Turret worked fine for me and I mostly played solo in the DZ. Felt the heal was way too slow and didn't do enough to be worth a skill slot. Also gave peoples position away in PvP with its loud buzzing sound and green line-o-heal.
But I do agree most of the skill mods we had were really situational, I couldn't see a use for the airburst seeker or bombard drone since targets always moved out of their AOE. The only other option was the sniper turret which worked great for chunk damage.

yes, I found the drone useful when playing solo and in team, there's also a healing seeker, but I did not see anything that would bring me up from a down position, and no support station or recovery link that I saw, so I hope something like that comes back. This game seems to force you into cover because you are squishy and they are tanky and you can't revive yourself, even at level 30 I was squishy compared to D1

I also used the repair drone 95% of my time during the beta. I loved how i could send it over to other players when i saw their sheild start to go down.

At one point i had another players drone on me and i activated my own drone... Was i getting double healing???
And could one player have everyones drone on them healing/repairing??? Could be some good tactical drone use going on during end game and raids.

    Good question.

It was the most useful drone, although I didn't actually have access to it (I never ran solo, and my teammate had the repair drone equipped). I was trying (and failing) to get effective use out of the bomber drone and the seeker mine.

Overall, I usually didn't need the repair drone - swapping armor plates was good enough. (Mind: I did not do any DZ stuff, so I have no idea how it would work there -- I'm unlikely to do any DZ activities because I've never liked the concept from the start).

BUT: in solo play, I would have run auto-turret and repair drone, strictly. No question; the other skills weren't worth the unlock points.

I want to add that I don't think the problem is the repair drone is too good. I think that between the way the other skills are developed and the way damage works in this game, it just felt like it was needed in order to enjoy the game. My preference would be that we could have alternatives for not losing so much armor or getting armor back. Maybe with equipment skills and mods, we can build up enough armor on kill bonuses.

I definitely felt more inclined to use it solo
