beta feedback from a division 1 player

please note i plan to edit this as i find anything else.

Not sure if there was an option to customize, if so i missed it, right now i have notice an issue with the sound. It started at first during the mission to save Odessa's daughter, the sound when I entered the mission area where the minigun is was very buggy and just kept playing even though there was no gunner. When I got to the end where I had to break the barricaded door to leave I noticed all gun sounds were gone then suddenly all came in at one time, and wearing headphones it did not help my ears at all. Currently the only sound I hear is the background, no people, no footsteps, just wind and rain, this started happening during the side mission at the library and is still in effect. There was also a few visual glitches I noticed with banners/posters phasing into the ground with the animations and some enemy npc's having no head when you shoot their helmets off.

Edit 1: I returned to the whitehouse and noticed the quartermaster was gone.

Edit 2: I deleted my first character to see if there was a customization option, there is not, I did like the way you made your character in the first division where the camera zooms down and you pretty much make your character via the reflection in a window of a police car. Also the sound is working again after i restarted the game completely, will update if it happens again where I lose sound.

Edit 3: So restarting the game completely does fix the sound bug, and since this game relies on being able to hear your surroundings it is a pain

Edit 4: Noticed that the enemy npcs are no longer massive bullet sponges, this is not including those special armored guys, as I remember playing missions in division and if the enemy was a purple it took around 3 clips to kill them

Edit 5: Ran into a bug where I hit an invisible wall for a bit, not sure if it is because the area isn't loaded or not though

Edit 6: Been noticing another phasing issue, when enemies die while standing on something wood, maybe more than that, they phase into the wood and get stuck in some way

Edit 7: Noticed that when reloading the ammo count in the gun is more than the clip is supposed to hold and that you are able to reload an already full loaded gun because of this

Edit 8: The sound glitch also effects when in a party with people so you can no longer hear them talking

Edit 9: In the dark zone, I have noticed that the drop rate of contaminated items is much lower than in division 1, not sure if that is intended but if this is supposed to be end game maybe give players a higher chance at the better loot, I keep getting a notice saying my weapons aren't the same level as I am but I haven't been getting anything other than green weapons that are lower level

Edit 10: Another dark zone thing I noticed, when an agent goes rogue it doesn't show on the map where they are like it did in division 1, is this supposed to be set like that or is it a bug? If it is intentional I think it should be changed back to how it was in division 1, the point of going rogue is to kill other players and try to survive, if you aren't shown on the map it is too easy to get away and lose rogue status

    Final Edit:
All in all I enjoyed the demo, felt a bit small once you reached the max level of 7 and the max dark zone level of 10. The settlement projects is an interesting touch as well. A few concerns, for me at least, in open roam is the amount of people spamming for assistance, I know there is a setting you can use to turn it off but you need to do that every time you start up the game, please change that. For the dark zones, my concern is about the loot drops being extremely low, while the npcs drop gear you can use right away, I felt that getting a total of about 4 contaminated items in a period of roughly 15 hours of play in the dark zone is extremely low, none of the items where blue or higher either. Adding the interaction console to go rogue is a good idea, at least in my opinion, I remember in division 1 if you were trying to extract or alone and a group found you they would just start attacking you which made dark zone group required which made it effectively unplayable if you were playing during peak hours with no group. There were a few minor bugs with phasing that I did notice but nothing game altering, the biggest bug for me was a sound glitch where all main sound would just stop, with the game relying heavily on sound to be aware of what is going on hurts the gameplay. Another glitch that I noticed was the electronic devices not playing when you interact with them, they were working the first character I did but not the second. Some suggestions, that I personally feel would help, are making the mini-map/radar show the streets and buildings, inside the building I am not overly concerned about but having the map show where the alleys are would do wonders for exploring and cutting through allies in search of equipment and resources, I know you can see allies by opening the main map but in most cases I select the place I was going to then would instinctively look at the mini-map when moving there. Also please keep the division 1 character creation screen, where the game zooms down onto your character, they take walk over to the police car and close the door looking into the window and then you create your character, I loved that concept and hope it comes back. I did notice some people complaining about the free roam enemies being too strong but I did not find that to be the case, a well placed grenade would easily kill the small patrols I was finding, using a combination of the seeker mine and grenades these patrols didn't really stand a chance against me. The only time I had issues with enemies in free roam were if the area wasn't loading and they were invisible but still able to hit me, this only happened once or twice, or if I go after a control area, aside from that the npcs are easy to deal with. The modding system is interesting, to say the least, compared to division 1 it seems extremely simplified, which is not entirely a bad thing, my suggestion, if this is going to be how the mods work in the full game, is to make it so you need to go to a workbench of some sorts and craft the mod for the weapon instead of just having an infinite supply of mods that take up no bag space. When it comes to the armor system, I felt this is a great change from division 1, though maybe put in a skill that allows someone to carry a pack that gives some better damage reduction with the armor for x time. Final thoughts, if this is just a preview of what the game looks like keep it up, though I will admit I am worried this is more of a finished game and ubisoft is pulling an EA battlefail v "beta test" and just giving us a look at the finished game. Some of the issues may seem to be an easy fix but having worked with coding small game projects in college I know that some bugs aren't exactly easy to find or fix and I worry that some of these won't be fixed for the game release.

I believe they said that you will be able to customize your character when it fully releases in March.. And I feel they are also going to fix issues like the buggy sound effects and the delayed movement when it officially comes out... At least I hope.
