Yeah, see personally I'd rather another company pick up the Turok license and make a new one of those than have dinosaurs shoved into a Far Cry game. This way we could have 2 cool games rather than shoehorning the element one is known for into the other and failing to deliver on it's potential. Vampires I just think is silly, never particularly found vampires or vampire lore to be interesting. Maybe if vampires were just an enemy type within a larger fantasy setting as OP is suggesting, but I have a hard time mustering any interest in a game based wholly around vampires specifically.
My own idea for one of these 'spin-off' experimental titles would be a game centered around Vikings. That is a bit similar to the medieval setting but I think is different enough that it wouldn't feel like there are 1,000 other games that've already done it. You could have rival viking tribes fighting to expand, and while not mandatory, could maybe have supernatural elements with the gods or some such.
