So you knew about this problem in November, and still haven't figured out how to fix this huh?
I'm betting you are working really really hard to fix this, yeah got 50 people on it!
I just spent 5 euro on this game, thinking that if there at some point were some issues with the game, those would be long gone by now. After all this is the almighty ubisoft we are talking about there. But nope.. Can't do it. To complex. We don't have the skills to pull it off, sorry guys, thanks for spending your money though.
I'm getting sick of you screwing up. Again, and again, and again. But ok!
I'll ask nicely. When can i expect sound effects to work in the game i just bought?
The music plays fine, and i can hear actually hear 1 sound effect when i alt-tab out and back in, i can also hear sound effects when i adjust the effects volume slider. But other than that, the game is dead silent. No sounds at all. How on earth did you manage to screw this one up?
I initially had the same problem. There were some interface sounds, e.g. when selecting buildings, but no sounds from game world (hammering from builders, birds, ocean, ...). I restarted the game few times and nothing changed. Then I also discoved that sounds play when volume slide is dragged. I fiddled with that a little, did few more restarts and still nothing. Then suddenly, without doing anything else, it started to play and plays fine(*) ever since.
(*) There's one annoying problem left. Original game had a short simple "ding" sound for notifications about soldier not being in vicinity of newly built towers, woodcuter not able to find any trees, being attacked, etc. History edition changed it to longer and louder "fanfare"/"revelation" type (sorry, I can't find the right word). I think this sound was previously used for more important and rare notifications about bigger game events (arrival of reinforcements, ...). It's very annoying to hear it again and again when there's major battle and messages about being attacked pop one after another. Previous "ding" was ok. And not just that, the same sound also plays seemingly randomly throughout a game. I wasn't able to find any reason why it happens or any pattern for when.
Thanks sobcz.
yes it works now for me too. And as you said, it just suddenly started working.
What i did, after i read your reply was to go back into the game and just keep moving the sound effect volume slider up and down for a period of 30-40 seconds. Then i left it at highest volume, and suddenly all the sound effects were working. Then i tried to move it down a bit, still works. Then, when i reach about 40% volume, all sound effects disappear again. So now i have it constantly at 100%, never going to touch it ever again, the bug is obviously linked to that volume slider.
Ubisoft would have discovered this months ago if they even bothered trying.
