@MikeWeeks: You know Mike, after I did Ghost Mode following the second short path like you did, I had a long WTF period. Nothing made sense at all, especially after doing the full path first. Now I wish that I never even did the second path. And then I thought about all the posts I read before I started out in regards to which path to take, and in retrospect, I can't believe that most people didn't say "Take the full path first as it makes most sense, then do the second one just so you know what it is about, but be warned, it will lack continuity." Now that I've gone through it, I'd say that should be a no brainer bit of advice.
The Sandoval missions should have been made available earlier as well.
I agree with Ami that the second path needed the addition of separate dialogue and story lines. Each path should have been made like they were separate complete stories or games within the game itself, else there should have only been one path. I think they lost an opportunity there to elevate the quality and replay-ability of GRW.
It never should have been what appears to be something tossed in last moment perhaps to appease the Ghost mode players trying to get that exo suit so that they could finish off El Sueno quickly and get the mask without further risk of dying. Speaking of continuity and that exo suit .. what in the world was that doing as a reward in the game, let alone being in GRW, period?
Ami summed it up correctly: "This sort of disregard for continuity doesn't really belong in a modern game."
What? DJ Perico was eaten by llamas? Why didn't you do a spoiler alert!!!??? Thanks for ruining the game for me! hehehehe .. yus keedink!Originally Posted by V4MPiR1 Go to original post![]()
Don't get me wrong, I'm becoming a bigger fan of Assassin's Creed games every day. I've been playing all the main titles to get caught up, and a few hours ago I just started Unity---the first instalment to use AnvilNext 2.0 like Wildlands---and am absolutely blown away by that, both graphics and mechanics improve by leaps and bounds each year Ubi puts out another of these.Originally Posted by Mongol_Horde Go to original post
But I really hate the sense via this "memory sequence" system---which has now been applied to Ghost Recon for some reason---that for the player everything is sort of happening all at the same time or any particular thing can happen at any time. Obviously there's a sensible chronological order, but I guess Ubi are under the impression that this style of storytelling provides more "freedom"?
Real freedom would be letting us do virtually anything any time in any order and using plot flags so that we get a very real sense that the order we do things---and how we do them---really matters and is making our playthrough more personal. Again I reference my thread from a few days ago expanding upon this subject.
I love the AC stuff. Unity was not a favorite though. Still ok, but not a favorite and is one I won't do a replay on. You're right about them improving the stuff. I even wish they had these graphics and mechanics in the Silent Hunter series.
Your last statement though about letting us do virtually anything, would be amazing. But that would be quite the undertaking to create all types of scenarios and voice overs, etc. Still, it would be pretty amazing. If we just look at say how MOHAA or CoD 1 was and where we are now, that's a huge jump, so maybe one day. Fingers crossed.
