I'll show you who's the low skilled player, anytime you want to go.Originally Posted by C4rmine52 Go to original post
Some of his OPness comes from the current way the game works in regards to stun duration and opponent OOS griefing, but I think he has too much stamina or his stamina cost per attack is too low. He just is able to completely annihilate his opponent without breaking a sweat. But his attacks drain too much stamina from the opponent and the stuns last too long. I often am killed by a centurion after he scores 1 light parry. He can then keep me in a perpetual stun state the rest of the match. There seems to be a guard break exploit where they are shortening their GB somehow, the GB flashes for like 100ms and it is not enough time to react, so the opponent cannot escape the GB and proceeds to be perma-stunned through GB's and facepunches and spartan kicks along with free attacks after each. The killer is usually the spartan leap attack.Originally Posted by UbiInsulin Go to original post
I have also played centurions that have have kept me OOS for the entire round. I get stunned and I cannot dodge the spartan kick, I cannot react to the guard break because of stun, or I see those 100ms guardbreaks... and this is only coming from a centurion class. No other class can do this.
Literally everything you need to now to beat a centurion:
His punches are some of the slowest unblockables, dodge them into dodge attack, it's guaranteed damage 100% of the time, there is no differrent timing or anything, you just dodge on reacion. His punches can only come if he landed a heavy or his heavy is blocked- in the latter case, if they throw it, you get a guardbreak after the dodge. The kick should be punished by dodge attacks all the time, it is also some of the slowest bashes, just be ready to dodge it. He can try to grab you after succesful lights, it should be easy to counter if you keep that in mind. His zone is thrash, block the second hit and parry the third, shouldn't be a problem, and the same goes for his jump attack, you can just dodge and guardbreak him. His unblockable is unfeintable, once you get the timing, it is a free parry every time.
His light parry punish is exactly the same as his heavy, so you are actually safe to throw lights, he gets 25 damage on a light parry- lowest in the game, lower than some heavy parry punishes. The only thing you need to be aware of is not being parried with a wall behind you, and not being guardbroken with a wall nearby. The easiest way to get guardbreaks is softfeinting heavies into guardbreaks, he can do that, be aware of that.
If we consider he lacks side dodge attacks, he is one of the weakest heroes considering defense. His offense is basically throwing heavies with different timing and feinting some into guardbreak, this shouldn't be a problem to stop just by blocking, every other move (everything unblockable) is very easy to punish. His hp and damage without a wall is very low, so if you keep that in mind, he shouldn't cause a problem. And he has no oos pressure, block, dodge the unblockables two or three times on reacton, that's it.
Again two of them together are much harder to deal with, I don't care about 1v1 its a dead game mode that no one plays and is dumb to balance around. You can see this philosophy in black prior who is specifically made for 4v4 fights and 1vX situations. This is the right direction to go. The punch and unblockables are much harder to defend against when there are two of them on you which is not the same with other classes as you state. The only other comparable combo I can think of is two HL because they have throws to the ground and easy access to unblockables.Originally Posted by EvoX. Go to original post
It would not appear you are understanding the point. Other combos of players can't stun lock you as easily as two centurions. Its not as hard to interrupt other player combos but when one of those centurions lands a heavy or a punch you are dead.
They can buff him all they want, I honestly don't care and prefer they would as hes a fun character to play. Just understand this buff everyone is clamoring for him to get means hes going to get other nerfs to his moveset. Look at the recent buffs to shigoki and warlord (my main) as an example. Those classes appear to be much better off on paper but they are losing stuff core to their current movesets (I am more than happy with those changes). When you think of centurion his moveset revolves around unblockables and the punch so expect some kind of nerf in that area. All I am saying is careful what you wish for as I expect a lot of cents will be pissed when his rework eventually comes.
Cent main here. Cent as a whole has a fun playstyle, but the execution is lack-luster. He can hold his own in a 1v1 or in ganks, but he could be better. He's certainly not OP, though he does need a few tweaks here and there. (Being able to faint his zone being one of them)
As others have said, practice against Level 3 ai and other Cent players in Customs. Cent suffers the same "skill issue" as Aramusha where when a new/low tier player fights him, they can be overwhelmed by his mixups and pressure, whereas experienced/higher tiered players find him very weak and predictable.
While I don't necessarily think Centurion is flat-out useless or weak, he can certainly be a valuable asset in Ganks and other 4v4's, and he can hold his own in 1v1's. I can understand how at first glance you can see Centurion being OP, but as you play the game more often and become better at it, you will realise he isn't as bad as you think.
My advice would be to play the character, if you haven't already and you're able to unlock him. Learn his moveset and kit, learn his strengths and weaknesses, and learn how to overcome and kick his butt!
