It has happened to me more times than I care to count. It is either they annihilate the whole base in the blink of an eye, don't kill the guy or guys in my immediate area and I have to deal with them or die soon after revival or if I get to close to the convoy and they start shooting w/o me giving the order they shred the convoy truck to pieces but somehow, don't hit or miss every God damn enemy near by and I have to do the clean up... your miles may vary of course.Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
Yeah, that's another thing I would love to be able to have a power over, even if its just 1 single key binded that says "You ****ing rebels, GTFO now or I'll start shooting all of your asses" that would be sweet.Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
This is why I try to avoid getting close to the convoy with them but, sometimes, like if I land the helo to hard and the convoy is fast approaching or once engaged they will not follow orders for ****. sometimes they do which is refreshing but most times, I am not fast enough to send them somewhere, hope they listen, and also deal with the thugs shooting at me from a few different positions while I try not to hit the convoy.Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
You are also correct, 10 to 20% an the convoy seems not to lose its value? more than that though and you only get half. I have done a lot of farming but I have not really paid much attention to the math or the percentages.
My bottom line on convoys, whether with the AI team or going solo, is patience and situational awareness of what the bad guys are up to - plus if having to cross a road, or simply to be exposed on one, is to look both ways before crossing and/or tagging ...
One follow up however - normally, are you upgrading your squad skills?
I was done with the campaign so I decided to turn all the Xmas lights on the enemy and start having some fun farming and getting some XP to maximize all skill levels to see what the difference was so yes, I pretty much have every XP/upgrade or whatever the name for it is from the skill tree?
I have also turn Tier 1 on just because it gives more XP point or whatever the name is? Sorry, I really pay zero attention to that part of the game and also I do the challenges in T1 but I think I am not even Tier 30 yet.
Also remember, my approach to the convoys are from very very far away this way I know for a fact my teammates won't interfere and I get to do all of the shooting 90% of the time... it is that 10% that is the annoying part when they get to interact w/o me wanting them to, much like the Rebels do w/o you been able to do anything about it.
Ever since I discovered some time ago that Spotting allows sync marking of vehicle occupants, I sorta assumed the vehicle scanning was not just an interference, but a prerequisite, a built in caveat of being allowed to gain such a tactical advantage. That's why I only used a chopper to access them and always parked it on high ground well ahead of the convoy. The problem though is as you mentioned, a lot of convoys are not just random resource farming, but story missions. Therefore the hardest convoys to deal with via Spotting are the ones that drive on roads through densely forested areas.Originally Posted by Whitelion1284 Go to original post
I didn't really have a problem with any convoy missions in my Extreme No HUD/Upgrades play through, and I'm pretty sure I didn't have to chase any of them. Nor did I even get caught up in any chaos from other enemies while dealing with them as far as I recall. Which begs the question if stealth is even needed on mission convoys. All I used was a sniper rifle, grenades, and LMGs, along with a Fire command. Pretty effective really.
That said, if you're talking Tier One mode, yeah, best use stealth.
This is about farming? I've never had problems with soloing convoys. Just shoot the driver at a chokepoint (natural or ad-hoc), then sneak around them and snatch the cargo.
With the all-powerful-god-of-death-grenade launcher, even +5000 convoys become like child's play. Just don't miss the first shot.
It wasn't 100% clarified by OP, but when I saw "mission objective" in all caps, I figured it was a story mission being referred to.Originally Posted by B_616e6f6e Go to original post
