    Quality of Life Request: PLEASE STOP THE AUTO SCANNING OF CONVOY VEHICLES!

    Trying to take down convoys by sync shotting the drivers is extremely effective and actually rather enjoyable. I do have one very specific gripe, however. The drone's tendency to lock onto the scan function of the target vehicle, which is frequently broken by LOS and thus immediately starts over. For a time sensitive function this is MADDENING.

    Really.

    I'm trying to mark the driver for a sync shot and the drone keeps trying to scan the truck. I already know it's a bloody convoy. I already know what KIND of convoy it is. That **** was in the mission description and is readily apparent to anyone that can tell the difference between a tanker truck, a box truck, an ambulance, and a mobile command center. PLEASE STOP THE AUTO SCANNING OF CONVOY VEHICLES!

    Really. It would save my forehead and my keyboard much distress and my environment from the unending string of obscenities tumbling out of my mouth every time I'm watching that goddam lock-on reticule bounce back and forth between truck, drivers, and mission objective (MISSION OBJECTIVE!!!!)

    So, I doubt this will every get any attention from the devs who have way more important things to do (like come up with more things for us to spend money on) but this one change would be such a dramatic reduction in unnecessary aggravation.

    Not to mention that after you scan the bloody truck the drone still wants to target the truck rather then the driver & passenger.

    You're not alone in your frustration.

    I had been contemplating over the last two weeks whether or not to create a thread about this myself. I thought there might even be some settings to control the auto-scanning, but couldn't locate any.

    I can't count how many times I've scanned the convoy, tried to sync mark the driver, got the passenger instead, then tried to go for the driver, then lost the cursor to auto-scanning, then tried to get the cursor back, then suddenly lost the sync on the passenger, then lost the cursor again because it had the need to auto-scan that insignificant town far off in the distance, then after getting the cursor back, I managed to sync the neighbour's dog, then lost sync with that, then .. well, you get my drift since you've all been there, except maybe with a different dog. By then, the convoy is a few GRW kilomiles away. I'll be honest, there has been the odd occasion where I had enough, jumped into my chopper, then just sent rockets into the entire convoy instead, flying away afterwards without even bothering to stop and mark the thing. Its not the convoy's fault, but no convoy, no scan problem.

    Scanning is a setting that needs a toggle and/or a tweak slider.

    It may not get the dev's attention, but at least you know you have a large support group now, all of us with bandages on our foreheads.

    Same. I hate taking down a convoy and then when I walk up to it the dialogue for scanning it plays. I already took down the convoy. It makes no sense to call out it's details after it's done.

    I have developed a strategy though to avoid the badly timed dialogue. I usually prefer taking down convoys with a helicopter. So what I do is figure out the convoy route. I land well ahead of it near the road. Then, I wait for it to come into range and scan it. Dialogue plays so then I hop in my chopper and take it down. Works for me.

    Landing ahead of the convoy also sometimes sets it up perfect for a sync shot takedown, thus avoiding having to chase with a helicopter.

    Ha, I didn't mention this in my Farming thread because again, I thought I was the only idiot doing it wrong, but I now see this is another little tidbit the devs missed out on... or this is how they wanted for this to work LOL because (what-e-ver good excuse this is).

    Now, a work-around for that is... take your time, as much as I want to hit one of the devs right smack in the face with the keyboard (for full effect only of course) you must remember that your teammates can syncshot from very far away and unless you are going to the fastest take down of a convoy, you can enjoy getting the full benefits if you take the driver and passenger of the convoy (**) and also the pilot of the chopper when there is one accompanying the convoy.

    (**)... One too many times I have seen where the passenger of the convoy truck decides that he is to scare or chicken **** to fight with the other goons and takes the convoy away in the middle of a firefight.

    Besides, you want to try to avoid a close range firefight with the SB thugs, otherwise, you or one of your teammates that can not hit the broadside of a barn for ****, may damage the convoy.

    I've yet to see that happen from the AI team. Besides, convoy damage to a certain % does not impact the resource amount.

    It's if rebels and/or Unidad get involved that can throw a monkey wrench into the situation.

    Should you be close when you stop a convoy, you re-position. That brings along the AI team by default. Once the SB thugs rush your last known position, you come around to to tag the truck from the other side.

    Strangely enough, the constant scanning also happens if you scan the train that travels around the world. Each individual car is treated as a separate component, making it very difficult to actually complete a scan on the train, and completing it does nothing whatsoever.

    Makes me wonder if the train was originally intended to have a much more important role than professional AI team-mate killer.

    "...professional AI team-mate killer" hehehe .. one of my favorite things in the game. I just wish they added a big SQUISH sound before they yell out "Man down! Man down!"

    That's only if they have direct line of sight. If they are behind a llama that is on the other side of the mountain, and behind a big tree and a boulder, then no problem. "Barn down! Shall we check for intel?" hehehe
