Dougie counters aren't that hard. To he completely honest, if you can't counter dougie you should reconsider who's not good at the game. I probably should try to say that more nicely, I recognize your rage. I feel the exact same way about Awesome-O and Chicken Coop. I want to hit someone every time someone plays them because I know I will lose because they played one card. At the same time, I also know what I need to do to counter that - it's just a matter of time before my Storyteller Jimmy and Awesome-O are both level 4.
I both agree and disagree with this point. I agree it's easy to counter. My most common deck has 2 good counter cards to him - MC and DKC. However I also disagree. This is because firstly MC is only in my deck for Dougie - should you need a card in your deck for only the possibility of one card? Secondly, if I don't have either of those cards in hand when they play Dougie, then I have lost a bar. So it is indeed a highly 'no skill' move to use him.Originally Posted by AndrewWang42 Go to original post
Yeah...however, very much valid point:

I've lost matches that I could've won but didn't have the cards I needed in hand to counter. Just the way it goes. Dougie users are Bush league though.
Well, just because Dougie is now a low skill card, does not mean he is only used by low skill players. But it allows things such as playing him first to grab an easy bar based on starting cards, and if the player does have some ability then they can likely win from there just by playing defensively. Or a good player will only play their Dougie if they have MC or purify in hand. And as pointed out above, double Dougie (use up your counter on first, then just get free bar anyway). Other than MC, because you can turn the tables on an unskilled player there, all other reliable counters either leave you equal or negative energy (apart from DKC where you are equal energy but 'ahead' as you have a card in play). This now makes him an extremely low risk (but still high reward) card to play.
Previous use of Dougie, before the buff, was a skill play. Successful execution would usually mean working to give yourself an energy advantage and then being aware enough of when you could play him and land a hit while the opponent could do nothing.
