    Different Difficulty Settings for Co-Op?

I see old posts when game was in beta plus right after release, yet the posts don't appear to have definite answers to the question:

In co-op, do players play on their own difficulty settings, or does the host's setting control the co-op session?

afaik they're separate. The game tries to match players together, but playing with randoms I've met some who run right into Unidad bases guns blazing while I just sit there facepalming at my life choices.

What is meant by the game tries to match players?

My impression was either a players asks a "friend" to join, or selects to join a "friend's" game - as defined on Uplay and those options are available.

    Open matchmaking is what "thing"?

Exactly how does "the game" try to "match players together"?

This was answered back when Tier mode came out. Sorry I can't find the exact post/video that the Devs did, but essentially it is a balance of the two. So say you are Tier 1 and your mate is Tier 50 you would get Tier 25 difficulty. I'm pretty sure that is how it works across the spectrum, though it was a while ago so I don't remember exactly.

    This might be that announcement:

    https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/faqs/0...e-5-Rang-Eins/

However the part regarding a non-Tier player in this portion isn't all that clear to me:

"You can still play with your friends under Tier 1 mode, however, when pairing up with other player in co-op, the game will add up an average of each player’s Tier level in addition to those who didn’t activate the mode in order to offer your squad a balanced level of difficulty."

Does balance involve the squad, or is balance for each individual in that squad if you happen to not be using Tier and you join up with those who are?

My basic question dealt with, say, one player on Normal, another on Extreme. What's the impact, if any, when you join?

Hey Mike, in terms of vanilla dificaulty settings, you essentially play your own difficalty when in a mixed co-op.

This effects the how much damage you deal, how much damage you can take, enemy detection range, and how fast you can be detected.

I was originally adverse to this, as I am a ghost recon purist, and extreame difficulty is the only option. However my nephew is new to gaming, so he needs to play on arcade mode to enjoy the game. The fact that the mixed difficalty in co-op allows us to play together whilst both enjoying the game at our own speed is a really cool feature that has braught us closer together.

I believe there is no change to teir mode play, as I am teir 18 whilst my nephew is playing arcade with no visible change of difficalty.

Thanks Glass, that's what I was attempting to understand outside of Tier players joining up.

Difficulty setting doesn’t factor into how the game matchmakes players together.

And yes, it’s quite annoying to play on Extreme with randoms set to Arcade. They do dumb crap and because you’re the one on Extreme, the enemy sees you first and kills you instantly, and they then proceed to run & gun the whole camp into the ground.

I only played two or three games with randoms before I quit forever. I only play with my Taskforce now.
