Dear ForHonor community, at the risk that I get a lot of criticism, I have to get rid of it now. What do you think about punishing campers in the game?
For Honor is a game based on teamwork, you fight together to win. What I don't like at all are those players who just stay at point A, B or C while the others fight. These players don't respond to cries for help or anything. They just collect points and don't do anything. I HATE that.
Many of you might say I shouldn't get so excited or childish. Maybe it is, too. But it's just annoying and ruins the game fun.
I look forward to your comments.
These aren't campers, they are defenders! This isn't call of duty and someone hiding in a building with a sniper. Staying at A or C is a legit strategy, you double your points the longer you defend, especially if that character is a heavy. Heavies get extra reknown for defending point, so with that in mind, this is legit. Now if 2-4 players are all sitting on one point and defending when you have lost the other two, that is not a good strat because you only need 1 to defend and get the double points, (unless they are getting attacked and need assistance. I would much rather someone guard a point than everyone run around death balling or just running into find fights in areas that don't mean anything.
If you want straight killing with no objectives then play Deathmatch.
Yeah, good point. This strategy is also completely in order, and I have nothing against it. I wasn't looking for a comparison with call of duty either. Both games are too different for that. I'm really interested in the players who guard a point with two or three players. That's foolish. It's important to defend your points, but if your fellow players need help, you should give up defending. But these players don't do that very often. Please don't get me wrong, just because one player asks for help doesn't mean everyone else has to drop their activities immediately. That would be stupid. And in many cases you can't. But if you fight against three opponents, you have minions around you and your teammates don't come to your aid when you ask for them, it's annoying.
Maybe I was too unclear in my first post. Sorry for that. Deathmatch would be a solution, but I personally find this game mode more boring than Dominion.
The problem is, the defender mostly has a hard time deciding the best objective. If he abandons the point for someone outnumbered by 3 people, he still won't even the odds, especially since the ally might be too hurt or outright dead once he arrives, which might mean his death and losing the zone. Meanwhile, a conqueror with conqueror feat guarding a zone will result huge pointgain, leaving one unchallenged is almost like giving up. Fighting a conqueror on his own terms with possibly half his feats unlocked isn't a pleasent thing either. Players engaging in outnumbered fight mostly overestimate their skills, so they aren't the best allies to fight with, it might be better just letting them holding off the enemy. Multiple players guarding a zone might be a call for the entire team to fall back there, usually for a last stand (some zones are surprisingly hard to capture even against a breaking team, especially the Temple's upper sanctuary).
I don't think choosing a wrong strategy should have punishment, losing is already a big one. What I think would help a bit is giving mvp vote options on some fields (best fighter, best support, best strategist). If there is a big enough reward, people will try to play better.
There may be players who overestimate their abilities, but I'm not one of them. I don't play For Honor hard enough for that. There are situations where you (unfortunately) have to play against three opponents. Whether you like it or not.
I don't want to give anybody a strategy or say, you have to play For Honor like that and not like that. I would not presume that.
Admittedly, maybe punishments are too high, but I just don't like it if your own team only defends the points. It may be a logical and absolutely sensible strategy, but somehow I don't like it.
Maybe better voting options would really be a good solution.

Its not difficult to avoid overestimating any abilities when you don't have them. The only thing that's strong in you is the friendly fire.Originally Posted by Enwor1000 Go to original post
