Sorry if this has come up already, and there is a similar post to what I am going to write, but please don't balance weapons like you did in D1.
There are sooooo many cool weapons in D1, and the list is only getting longer in D2. Some of this is on the side of videos being posted, but when people complain about a certain weapon being "OP" I feel like it is just the first weapon that they actually like, or is just very popular. I'm not saying some weapons aren't actually OP, but I think this could pose a problem and force devs to nerf that weapon because of the community.
I am all for nerfing blatantly OP weapons such as the Hildr and Eir when they first were in the PTS (if you know what I am talking about), but I feel like more attention should be on buffing weaker weapons. I really want to enter PVP in D1 and shred with the Sa-58, the AK-74, the P416, the Tactical Mk17, and a whole bunch of other awesome weapons, but the devs never really took a look at what weapons they should buff. I mean they know how many car doors have been shut, but they don't know what percentage of people use what guns, or look at the DPS capabilities of different guns and relate that to their usage?
Basically, I think that if the devs see that High RPM weapons (such as the vector) are getting a lot of usage, if there are lower RPM weapons that get no usage, nerfing the high RPM weapons isn't exactly going to solve any problems. On the other hand, if they buffed the low RPM weapons, then they would see more usage, all the while not making the High RPM weapons obsolete, and (I know this is a run on) it wouldn't indirectly change the TTK to be higher or lower.
At the end of the day, I am not a game developer and I don't know all the ins and outs of balancing weaponry, so please inform me if my solution would be of any good to any weapon balancing.
Side note: Some guns do have to be bad, because without them, everything might seem a bit too bland, but at the same time, I think that there needs to be some situationally powerful weapons.
Is it better to bring all weapons up to an equal level or bring all weapons down to an equal level? How does that impact the rest of the game around the weapons? How much influence should player skill have in a weapon's power and whether/how it is nerfed or buffed?Originally Posted by evan5338 Go to original post
Bringing all weapons up or down to an equal level would be better decided with a TTK in mind. Player skill should impact how good some weapons are. A full auto weapon with bad spread could be very good for someone who knows how to tap fire. For others that just spray and pray they may think the weapon is bad. Player skill should always outweigh gear when it comes to a competitive game. For the Pure PvE player skill doesn't matter much. Its more about just clearing content to get lootz.
@Migrayne1 , considering the OP, are you more so a PVP or PVE player?Originally Posted by Migrayne1 Go to original post

In your own opinion, how do you think balance will play out in the new game? Do you think the new skills/new features will assist in creating that balance players are looking for?Originally Posted by Migrayne1 Go to original post
