I don't play ghost war for a number of reasons, most of which cannot be addressed by Ubi.
Six nights out of the week I have only about 90 min to play. I have a kid and a wife and a full time job so my gaming time is limited to after the kiddo goes to sleep and before I need to hit the hay to get up for work the next day. I don't want to waste any time sitting in lobbies, or waiting on matchmaking, it's not a good use of my limited time.
For that reason alone I don't really do ANY multiplayer anymore. On top of that I just really don't enjoy PvP TDM type of multiplayer anyway; I get so much more enjoyment out of cooperative gameplay which is only to be found in PvE.
On top of that I usually end up hearing one of three things when I'm in a match:
1) Bad music played over someones headset which only makes it sound worse.
2) Annoying/bossy little kids who shouldn't be playing the game anyway, they shout "orders" at you then get whiny if you don't just do whatever they say even if it's horrible advice.
3) Silence. Refreshing compared to the other two except that no one is communicating and it usually results in a disorganized team which loses badly despite individual skill levels.
I have only even bothered with Ghost War maybe 5 or 6 times because it's clear that the people who want/enjoy PvP are over there, and the people like myself who enjoy PvE are not. I don't think there's any reward that Ubi could offer that would get me involved, this is simply not what I want out of the game. I have so much fun doing PvE, I can take time and be stealthy, I can turn up difficulty and turn HUD off, I can extend replay value by doing different tactics/weapons role playing. None of that exists in PvP, so it's not a matter of the rewards not being sufficient. It's like trying to find the right dog for a cat person...some people just don't want the same things as other people.
Also "carebears" ...really?
I didn't mean to imply that was the intention. I'm happy enough that a regular custom session is the result. There won't be anyone trying to ruin your day in a custom room. It's invite onlyOriginally Posted by Mongol_Horde Go to original post
It's a common term for people who don't PvP in another game I used to play, EVE Online. It's not an insult or anything, don't worry. If anything it's the opposite. Most PvPers are awful people.Originally Posted by R.B.haze Go to original post
One reason I occasionally try to stir up PvP interest in this forum is that I actually like a lot of people here and wish I had some decent human beings to PvP with. EVE had the same drawbacks for me. If I wanted to PvP I had to either do it solo or team up with people who were usually scum of the earth.
I think probably it has something to do with the fact that most people who are competitive by nature are therefore also nasty by nature. I even have a hard time really identifying as "a PvPer" myself because nearly all the examples I have of "PvPers" are deplorables who are nothing like me. Hard to see myself in that.
And, hey, your reasons and the reasons of basically everyone in this thread not to PvP are all totally solid, and they are things I too have had to overcome. The main purpose of this thread was to find out just how rewarding Ghost War would have to be to incentivise people to overcome these objections and play anyway.
As I keep saying the best way to dilute the toxicity of "the PvPers" is to get more and more people in there who aren't raging overly competitive Lords of the Flies. XD
LOL, PVP dead in a game NOT at all actually focused of centered on PVP...go figure?
People play this game for it's tactical/teamwork/stealth type PVE open world game play. Not for PVP.
What would it take to get me to PVP? nothing, I will never PVP in this game.....or any anymore for that matter....im over the epeen waggling days of having to prove my internet **** is bigger and better then the next guy...or now, gal...lol.
I don't like PvP because it brings the worst in people. This is the first reason. I've started playing a bit, but I've seen too many people camping, laying mines everywhere, securing their spot.
Tacticaly speaking... Well that's non existent: Securing the highest building and taking shots from the roof is really boring. Communication is poor or simply consist in obnixious comments.
I've been kicked once because I was a really low level and didn't undestood the mecanics at the time. Someone of my own team drop C4 on me at the begining of the next round, shouting with a very pronouced Spanish accent "expulsion" before killing me, maybe my worst memory of PvP (it would an interesting thread on the GRW PvP forum: worst PvP experience).
To sum up the all PvP experience, for me at least: running in circles with an SMG and there is a lot of title focusing on that alone.
In a nutshell: People are mean, and this part of the game makes things worst. Secondly, there is no tactics and communication is really bad (when it's not simply insults). Thirdly, well running in circles with an SMG is not my cup of tea, if you're happy with that, who am I to juge.
The game badly needs cross-play at least between Xbox and PC.Originally Posted by non-exist-ent Go to original post
I think most people are scared to jump on PVP for my experience I always see new people get slaughtered and they get discouraged.
My advice to newcomers: look at the way your teammates play get an idea how to move up and not run out in the open, because one thing is that I hear a lot of people say they “die too fast” in the game and they don’t like it. I tell them don’t run out in the open it’s a cover based game tactical at that. A lot of people coming to the game not knowing what to expect and get slaughtered. There is a new wave of players and we have to mentor them.
I helped out a few newbies, now they are well invested in the game
there are classes to counter this campersOriginally Posted by Mars388502 Go to original post
Snipers and people with mines: pathfinder
Campers: Echelon
Perks!! Select your perks properly for your opponent! Is very crucial and I can’t stress it enough
So many other classes to counter different types of campers.
Can’t get discourage because you are low-level when people are talking trash you have to overcome that. But you also have to know what teams you have to play aggressive against.
I advice for the first round, you pick a class that you can play with all around and test the team. Second round you know how they play, bring them to you or go get them.
If you don’t like people talking trash, plug your head so then put it on mute and put it down. I do it sometimes no shame.
There is a way to counter drones mines and people that are camping and you just have to pick the right class. Map voting is very crucial and Rarely see people voting and they get upset when a map is chosen. I asked thrm: did you vote? they say no.
It takes a week or two to actually get the feel for the game. Really is a great game
My biggest advice look at the top tier players that are on your team, watch how they play and get an idea in your own play style from that
I just wanted to say, coming from ghost wars, reading this has been really interesting.
I was a pve guy, but I finished the game (it does end you know, lol) so played PvP to check it out. I got owned for months, but that challenge just pulled me further in. The game is flawed and has a killer learning curve but you don't have to play the meta or whatever to have fun, I don't. But I'll admit that the community can be d**ks, but what do you expect from ppl who murder each other for kicks.
Get on it guys, please, we need the numbers.
