I was lucky in that I started playing Ghost Wars when it first came out and have dabbled in an on-off manner since maintaining a list of players that will happily pick me up as a 4th if they need someone who can fit with their play style.
The present challenge seems to be building these sort of relationships in the current blended PVP community.
We've got the veteran regulars who have memorised every map and every class.
We've got the altruistic new-comers who have played the game for a tactical experience then start the PVP hoping for much of the same.
Then there are the competitive new comers who binge on the PVP experience for a month or so building up a specific class and thrashing the game until they get bored.
I find the only draw card for me is the established teams that I play with, they are fun to jam with and sufficiently competitive to actually try to work as a team. I don't get into PVP unless I see some of these buddies online.
I have never been gripped by the play in Ghost Wars as every game mode seems like deathmatch with some token objective to force everyone to kill each other which isn't overly original to me.
I guess the key is to keep trawling the servers and picking up buddies that you can actually stomach playing with...
20:00 - 24:00 GMT is 12:00 - 16:00 PST (12-4pm). That's a no go normally. Possible this Sat.-Sun only. I normally game only in the evenings PST. The wife also uses the PC in our household. However she'll be gone from Sat. for a few days.Originally Posted by AI BLUEFOX Go to original post
Does the net connection have an impact? I'm on DSL, not cable.
Don't mind getting a mic/headset, but if not, Discord was mentioned. How would that work, put the app on the phone? Or just use text w/in the game?
A solid plus!!Originally Posted by devores Go to original post
Uh, hmm, I guess you can run Discord off your phone without a headset and put in on speaker, but there's a danger of hotmiccing of course.Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
Text is definitely not sufficient, it's way too slow, not to mention you can't communicate and ping locations at the same time if you have text chat open.
The speed of your Interwebs is fine, I'm sure.
So if Discord is on the PC, it's running in the background while you play GW w/o a mic? I've just barely looked at what exactly it is.Originally Posted by non-exist-ent Go to original post
It's a voice over IP programme. Like Teamspeak but significantly streamlined.Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
I'll put something up. Sign up will be here on the forum. The purpose is strictly to give everyone a flavour of the tactical nature of PvP in a non-hostile environment. You get this if you're in a team of 4 but for many PvE players that in itself is a barrier.
I can see the stats of those joining, and I can smell a smurf a mile off if you're thinking of being a bandit, so I'd like to see the regular PvP players help the new guys out a bit. The room will be as GR hardcore as it can be, with a ban on some drone types, no HuD and no health restore. It may even be better to go with no classes at all.
This is starting to sound a little less appealing---the diversity of classes and their fantastic rock-paper-scissors relationship is part of what I love about Ghost War---but you can still count me in for now.Originally Posted by AI BLUEFOX Go to original post
Just try not to make it too limited. XD
So somewhere in the menu after clicking Ghost War there'll be an invite, or something like that?Originally Posted by AI BLUEFOX Go to original post
