So, since FC2, we have travelled to out-of-the - way places, and dealt with various "factions" (call it what you like) who have been basically exploiting the locals in some way (this is a very general description, but it's just to raise a question). The question being, if the collapse in the fc universe has really happened (i.e. not bliss nightmare), what does it mean for future games. I mean, if anything, there are now limitless communities all over the world being rebuilt, and therefore a myriad of gangs waiting to take what others work for. Is there now a danger of it becoming too predictable?
Far Cry won't be a medieval game! Better to forget about it. Medieval game means fencing first of all. Exciting gameplay using swords, spears, shields... This is not so easy! Every kind of medieval melee weapon demands its owns choreography, fighting techniques. This is not Far Cry theme. Far Cry is a shooter! First Person. And, frankly speaking, I don't want to see Far Cry as Kingdom Come. And I don't want to see Far Cry as second rate Witcher or Dark Souls!Originally Posted by Lukecucaracha Go to original post
Today there is a tendency to romanticise medieval times.... in movies, games, books. But it was the worst times to live in human history! All those diseases, plague, religious wars, dirt.....May be if you were lucky enough to be born in upper class your life were more or less, but if not ....it would be better not to be born at all!![]()
Maybe set a game well after the 'rebuild' of civilisation. After a nuclear war, Humanity would almost be forced to have made some inovative technological advancements, specifically for safely feeding and watering the re-growing populace, and medical to combat a generation of mutations caused by fallout. There'd be wars over that kind of thing for sure. I wouldn't mind some futuristic weapons, but nothing too ray-gun-ish. The Mars dlc was a bit of fun, but the weapons got a bit dull after a while.Originally Posted by Gr4nt8r0dy Go to original post
Well, the Medieval period covers around 1000 years, so it could focus on several things. Vikings started their agro in England from the 700s, The Mongols invaded Europe (1200ish i think), and of course theres the crusades (assassins creed covered that). Loads of other stuff happened, too.Originally Posted by Lukecucaracha Go to original post
I quite like the thought of a group of eastern european settlements trying to deal with a band of mongolian raiders who have gone off to do their own thing.
Among the learnable skills, I'd want a "horse bowman" ability. (maybe from an old mongolian warrior who has switched sides, for some as yet unexplored reason).
I like the idea of different types of character. They could make it so that you can't ever get ALL the skills in one play through, and you build your character accordingly (so if you wanted a wizzard you'd pick mystic abilities). I'm not sure about playing the whole game as an animal, but maybe having an ability to enter the minds of then to control them for a limited time would work. (like the eagle in fcp) Wouldn't be keen on too much outright magic, but certainly expanding on mental abilities and illusory skills would be an ideaOriginally Posted by Lukecucaracha Go to original post
