    Question: Does Ghost mode load up a different session (or shell) than regular mode?

    I'm not sure if this should be in the Support section, but thought I'd try here first.

    So I started up a new round in Ghost mode to see what all the hullabaloo was about.

    I noticed a few things:

    With regular campaign mode, I can return directly to the main menu. I also found that I'd achieve a cleaner exit if I returned to the main menu first, then exited to desktop. If I didn't, my system would often hang. With Ghost mode, attempting to return to the main menu makes the game (seemingly) exit instead. The first few times, I thought it was crashing, so I'd try to load up again. I later realized that it's actually exiting, then restarting in order to go back to the main menu. It's like that main menu is some jump point between to the two modes, perhaps even for Ghost War too, which I haven't used. I've accepted that this is the way it is, and now patiently wait for the reloads, or I simply exit to desktop instead as there have been no hangs afterwards from Ghost mode like with campaign mode.

    I can't load up Ghost Recon Network while in Ghost Mode. That, IIRC, created a crash.

    I have a good system (for 2012, that is!). It runs the regular campaign fine enough for me, but I noticed that performance is sluggish in Ghost mode, especially when flying choppers. Same system. Same game. Same settings. Different Performance?

    So .. are Ghost mode and regular campaign mode running in two different sessions/shells? Can anyone who knows, please elaborate and explain why this is like this. I'd appreciate the enlightenment.

    Cheers!

    p.s. And for those Ghost mode veterans gasping and pointing your fingers at me, yes! I'm flying choppers in Ghost mode! Come get me SAMs - if you can! I'm also hopping on motorcycles .. AND .. I'm running with scissors as my primary ... hehehe.

    Yeah, Ghost Mode is a different module, same as Narco Road or Fallen Ghosts. So, yeah, you have to exit the whole game and go back in to access the main menu or a different module, same as those DLCs. Or Ghost War for that matter.

    Ghost Mode references the exact same assets---textures, meshes, et cetera---from the vanilla campaign but uses a modified mainfile with different rules---whatever Ubi uses instead of, say, Bethesda's esm.

    I don't know why you get different performance from the two campaigns. Until recently I was using a 2011 computer and could not detect any difference myself. So I can't really help with that, soz.

    @non-exist-ent: Many thanks for the explanation. It helps to know that there's nothing wrong and that things are as they were intended, even if it isn't as seamless as I'd like. As for the performance, it is strange. I checked the video/graphics settings, thinking perhaps those were upped, but they're not. It's not game breaking, just something to deal with from time to time in the air, and probably depending on province and sub-locations as well. Thanks again!

    @GAP: "....you're a damn Kamikaze Mongol_Horde" heeheee .. I need to find a red-dot bandana in the crates now!

    @B_616e6f6e: despite knowing the reason now, I doesn't mean I like it either. You can access main menu straight away when in regular mode, so even if Ghost mode uses a separate module, it should act in the same way as regular mode, so that things are seamless without waiting and without reloads. And we should also to be able to get to GRN (unless that was a one time thing).

    I don't use the motorbikes extensively, mostly to get to those crazy-placed vehicle drops or short trips, but I'm still not sure what all the worry is about using them .. as of yet. I mean, it's not like there are SAMs for motorbikes, right?

    Cheers!

    Whuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut?

    Kind of reminds of a cartoon from when I was a youngster: George of the Jungle .. watch out for that .. treeeeeee! Or in this case .. rooooooock!

    So this means that rocks turn into SAMs when a motorbike comes near, launching a Surface to Air Motorbike

    @Mongol_Horde -

    You're not alone; I'm also using the helo for transportation in GM. I'm selective as to when and which region, but it's a tool which makes for better tactics (on my part) at times.

    Have yet to saddle up on a cycle - they're not my cup of tea whatsoever. This might have more to do with some further adjustments to the FB/M settings that I should test.

    Despite what everyone said about motorbikes and helos in GM, I think I only died once doing a super man off the front of a bike and my team was there instantly to revive me and never had an unwarranted death in a helicopter. But I played GM just a few months back, so perhaps a lot of the early bike and helo bugs were fixed.

    Now I did die a couple of times in vehicles, when the vehicle was destoyed, my team for some reason would not revive me or pull me from the wreck (in cases where they were still mobile for some reason) and when the vehicle did it’s final explosion, I got game over. It was all very bizarre. Destroyed vehicles can be a death trap.

    Saved game backups to the rescue.
