Had the problem also, fixed after starting Just Dance 2018 and then go back to 2020

I had same issue that tests of Kinect would be succesfull in the xbox settings menu....but when trying to use it in JD2020 just not recognizing the players.
I had in paralel the JD2018 installed, went to this game...succesfully used the Kinect and then restarted the JD2020. Now all good
In my humble opinion this is a software bug that needs a fix.

Heres is how i fixed it

    Hi,

Kinect is a faillure, it's a fact: we all have to live with it. (Could be great thougth...)

Here's how it works on my xbox one: (with just dance 2019)

    1) I've seen many people complaining about the fan that has diedc ausing the kinect to disconnect randomly. So i a dismounted the black if the kinect to "improve" the cooling. (I'm not confortable about buying a new fan: too many scamms)
Search online for vidéos about it, you will fine plenty!!

    2) my kinect was working fine througth the Xbox settings but as soon as i switched to just dance, the kinect stopped working. As soon as i disconnected all USB devices from the xbox, the kinect worked fine: seems using the kinect during a game asks for more power than the Xbox can provide...

    Hope this explanation temps someone...

So I had the same issue described in the thread and the following steps resolved the problem

    1. Launch the game
    2. Go into the Xbox network settings and select go offline
    3. Reboot the Xbox
    4. Launch the game
    5. Verify that the kinect is able to detect a person in the song selection screen
    6. Go back into Xbox network setting and select go online

Note: While I was having the issue I noticed that the IR sensors (the red lights on the kinect) would light up while I was in the Xbox menus but would blink off as soon as I was in the game menu. After applying the workaround the IR sensors now stay on while the game is launched. Don't know why disabling the NIC would have anything to do with the IR sensors but I thought I would share in case this made your QA go "AH HA!"
Thank you for sharing your solution! I'm glad to hear that everything is working for you now!
