So, in addition to everyone posting on here and i am sure a million other viewers, how is it that the kinect works just fine with Just Dance 2016, but ever since they changed something drastic in JD2018, the kinect has not worked with JD2019 or JD2020. So here is the easy fix. Put back the kinect control data from 2016 and stop messing with it. I bought this for my daughters who are tired of 2016. We tried 2019, it didn't work, now here we are with 2020... ugh... how can a software company send out a product if they don't ensure it works? I am a hardware technician, but this just floors me.
I posted in JD2020, but it applies to 2019 as well. One of the trouble shooting steps is to remove or turn off your internet connection. I did it via the system menus outside the game. Once I did this, I restarted the game and it worked. I then went back into the system menu and turned the network connection back on and it all still worked.
Since doing this, I have turned off the game for an hour, unplugged everything from the xbox for 5 minutes, replugged it all back together and it still works.
So, hope this helps people. Now I am having an issue with internet not keeping up with content, but that's a different forum issue.
Thanks Silhyboy.
Bizarre that you thought of trying this as we would never have thought it was connected to the issue we were experiencing. However, we tried the fix you mentioned regarding the internet connection. Worked for us and now the kinect picks up the dancers in the room. Everybody is happy and we don't need to use our smartphones now.![]()
Just wanted to add to the list of people giving this solution the thumbs up and provide additional info I picked up while troubleshooting.
So I had the same issue described in the thread and the following steps resolved the problem
- Launch the game
- Go into the Xbox network settings and select go offline
- Reboot the Xbox
- Launch the game
- Verify that the kinect is able to detect a person in the song selection screen
- Go back into Xbox network setting and select go online
Note: While I was having the issue I noticed that the IR sensors (the red lights on the kinect) would light up while I was in the Xbox menus but would blink off as soon as I was in the game menu. After applying the workaround the IR sensors now stay on while the game is launched. Don't know why disabling the NIC would have anything to do with the IR sensors but I thought I would share in case this made your QA go "AH HA!"
