I may have stumbled on the cause of my crashes.. when my Dell 7710 Laptop is connected to my docking station and external monitors, the game runs without any issue... no crashes... when I hit F1 twice in game I can see in the bottom left hand corner my GPU % utilized and temp in C... usually around 39% & 59 deg C
However when using the internal monitor, the game crashes at random intervals... usually less than 5 mins from start... I accidentally hit F1 while playing like this and noticed that GPU was running at 0% & 0 Deg C.... I tabbed out to my desktop and my Nvidia Quadro M4000M GPU activity showed ACOdyssey.exe was running under the GPU... but from what game shows it's not...
This would seem to be the issue... just before any crash, I get two flickers or freeze frames and then the game crashes...
Hi friends! If you have not done so already, please submit your MSINFO and dxdiag files on a ticket, and reply back with your ticket number. These files help us with our investigation regarding performance issues.
FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY after over a month of Ubisoft (poor) support I have solved this issue myself. The brief explanation is when ever my GPU hits 64 degrees the game crashes to desktop.
if I lower the resolution down from my native 4k to 1440p and lower the graphics slightly it keeps the GPU at 60 degrees or less. No crashes at all. Obviously this isn't ideal but it means I can play the game I paid for. On a side note every other game I play, the GPU sits around 70 degrees and never crashes. Assassins Creed Odyssey is the only game I have ever had a problem with. Maybe this is something the developers can address? Who knows.
I hope this helps people out, so you can enjoy the game and not spend hours upon hours frustrated as I did.
Peace.
Srsly bro. I didn't expect it can be possible it was about GPU temp. It works for me too, but why the hell UBISOFT has made this restriction!? I can have temperature whatever I want - UBISOFT REPAIR THAT SCAM.
EDIT:
MSI Gaming X GTX 1060 6 gb
I checked everything, but after I saw your post I made my fans to work on 100% - temperatures stuck on 56 and now I can get to menu normally... before it was impossible because I prefer silent mode. So it's clrearly about temp, no msi afterburner, no drivers, no ms update, no corrupted files... This company is going to make me sad.
UBISOFT get off from temperature restriction!
EDIT2:
Ha, It seems there is same issue with CPU. After reaching more than 65 degrees game is shouting down. Some of your geniuses turn on 65 degrees temp limit on game? Big joke.
Same issue here. Prior to the update the game ran very well on PC, now it crashes every single time, less than 5 minutes after loading in. Have done all the sad muppet troubleshooting to no avail. Just fix it. It's piss poor that patches are allowed to go out like this and be called 'updates' when clearly sufficient testing has not been conducted.

I remember when I was choosing a new graphics card a couple of years I choose a rx 580 because it seemed like a good value and it came with a free copy of Assassins Creed Odyssey. I sure was excited to play it, I used to love these games when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I had an old Phenom quad core processor which didn't have AVX support so it just sat in my library. Fast forward to a couple of months ago when I put up the big money for a new 5600x processor and high end MSI B550 Tomahawk mobo. Surely, I thought, "I will be able to play that old Assassins Creed game." Wrong, I have the same problem as the other posters. Played for many hours and then when I got to that Penelope's Shroud level it crashed. Now it crashes either immediately or within 5 minutes of booting the game. I have tried all the troubleshooting steps. What gives? I got a fresh install of Windows and practically a brand new computer minus the gpu and psu. Must be on your end. I know nothing with come from this, but I just wanted to complain.
