Personally I don't like loot crates but I waste money on them because I am impulsive and have little self-control. Game developers are completely aware that the majority of players do not like loot crates. But as long as they continue to profit from it, the problem will persist.

If a game developer used a story about how "loot crates saved a 'recovering gambling addict'" to validate implementing loot crates into their game that would just be outright stupid and more than likely backfire on them.

Anyway, to keep this on topic. I like the idea of a Builder Outfit. Not a fan of that outfit being earned based on player feedback though. The reality is that some people just can't build good tracks. I think a Builder Outfit would definitely increase the amount of tracks we see published, however the tracks wouldn't necessarily be good. I'm also confident that in the first week of release Track Central would be spammed with "MyTracks" that are earning 10k upvotes because there is an unspoken arrangement that we all help each other get that outfit. I'd like to see a verified builder outfit. Track builders hand picked by Redlynx earn this outfit and have an icon next to their username so when another player sees a verified builder in Track Central they know the track should be good.

Having the like/dislike ratio determine it would definitely be problematic, but I don’t think Redlynx picking them would be ideal either. The job would most likely go to the community managers, namely Cannibal Shogun, and they have a heavy bias towards simple lines with unique deco. That’s fine if you want tracks that demonstrate what’s possible with the editor, but it says nothing of the quality of the line (which is the most important thing).

I remember how many times I voted for Twisted Talentz to get a wrench in Trials Evo, because his lines were top quality, but he was snubbed, because his deco was basic.

    To recenter the discussion:

-How do you picture the upvote system working?
    - Maybe a simple vote on the track itself at the end?
    - A devs selected top 5 track and with a community selected winner every week or so?

    - A special builder achievement?
    - Would it be cool to have a special badge next to your name?
    - A featured profile on the game website/ social media account?

Feel free to share ideas on how to make a popular system that involve the community and celebrate in-game ingenuity!

I like the track ..... those who do not like do not vote
    like on Forza Motorsport !!!!

the red vote is a way to eliminate "an enemy, or someone we hate"

    > no stars, just "I like" and "I do not pronounce"
this is the only way to avoid all hatreds, and only those who understand the importance of voting will vote to improve the central track

you have to trust the old players to boost a track by a "like" on the central track

against all malice and hatred will be referred to the red thumb ....

10 inches red at the launch of the track, will never be equivalent to 10 inches red at the time of the last hours of the promotion of this track !!!!

thank you for understanding, the red thumb is often a bastard (I do not like this guy, .... his track is so crap!)

I picture the upvote system being as ineffective as it is in Fusion.

I also disagree with Atilla when they say that people who do not like the track should not be able to vote. If you're downvoting a good track purely because you don't like the person who created it you're being very petty, don't do that. I, and I hope most other people who downvote a track do it because the track is garbage.

However, simply downvoting a track doesn't really do much for the creator. How is someone meant to see that their track has been downvoted and use that "feedback" to improve their content in the future? When one of my tracks has been downvoted I think to myself "Okay, someone disliked my track. Cool. But why?". I know this mindset is shared by other people in the Trials community because I've had several people message me, tell me that I'm trash at the game and ask me why I dislike their track. Usually I will politely explain to them why, and most of the time they will be grateful for the constructive criticism and do their best to avoid making the same mistake(s) in the future. The point is that the creator of a track should not feel that it is necessary to creepily monitor the leaderboards and ratings of their track, figure out who downvoted it and then send the suspected downvoter a message asking why, just to help them improve as track builders.

Another reason the upvote system doesn't work well for me is that I can really like the decoration of a track but absolutely despise the driving line. Because of how limited the upvote system is, I will generally base my rating of a track on the driving line. I can't help but feel a little guilty when I downvote a track because the driving line frustrated me but the decoration was incredible.

So how do we fix this? Bringing back the 5 star rating system would be a good start. That way I can dedicate 2.5 stars towards the driving line and 2.5 towards decoration. This system still does not help the creator though.

Ideally, what I'd like to see is the ability to leave a comment on tracks that I have played. It would be game changing if there were an easy way for the Trials community to share both positive and negative opinions on each track in Track Central. Of course there are going to be immature people that abuse the ability to comment on tracks, so there would have to be a way to report those people as well. I guarantee we would see high quality tracks more frequently if this feature was introduced.

You also mentioned a special builder achievement. I like this idea. I suggested something similar earlier. For whatever reason when I played Evo I never touched Track Central, but from what I've heard there was some wrench thing that was awarded to really good track builders. Bring that back.

I like the vote up only vote idea or just dont vote at all, get rid of down vote and the star system is just as bad, i've watch streamers in the past have down vote streams just to be jerks.

    That's a lot of info!

Thanks for sharing all those ideas! I will bring it to the devs attention asap!

How does removing the ability to downvote a track change anything? If you create a track and five players are on the leaderboard but the track has only received three upvotes, two people thought your track sucked. The people that obsess over the ratings of their tracks, that are really sensitive to receiving downvotes in Fusion will do the basic math involved in figuring out how many people disliked their track with a no downvote system in Rising.

I feel like it is quite narrow-minded to say that a 5 star rating system is no better than an upvote system. Occasionally I won't rate a track if my opinion is split right down the middle. I wouldn't do that with a 5 star rating system.

I'm sure there are a small percentage of players that are horrible people and do have "downvote streams" but I assure you that if you are receiving a lot of downvotes on one of your tracks it is because most of those people just genuinely did not enjoy your track.

when you have 10 people from one team automatically down vote your track cause they dont like you or your team, it has nothing to do with the track, its just the way some people are and it'll never stop as long as you have a down vote system. plenty of people dont vote which is fine, i sometimes dont vote cause i like the deco and the drive line is bad. i'll take a no vote over down vote any time.

    Lmao!

Nobody outside of the OTHG take teams seriously. I highly doubt there are team rivalries going on but you're more than welcome to provide evidence of teams that downvote tracks created by other teams. You're in the OTHG, correct? I don't understand how an adult can get so hung up on a track of theirs being downvoted.

You never answered my question either. How does removing the ability to downvote a track change anything when simple math can be done to figure out how many people don't like your track anyway?
