Worth buying now? Has the game improved over the last few months?

Despite it's issues I quite liked the original The Crew game, but I played the beta of the sequel and found the handling felt a bit **** and the races quite boring with rubber band opponents so I never bought the game.

Is this still how things are now? is the game more fun with high level cars or is it still boring races requiring little skill?
Also is multiplayer a bigger part of this game or is it like the original game and really badly implemented? I remember trying to race both with or against other players was really awkward and pointless before - have they addressed this in the sequel?

The game changed very little since first betas. The AI is slightly more forgiving, but the events themselves are still boring and there isn't enough of them, the progression system still doesn't make much sense and the whole game is a design mess of poorly thought out ideas.

And lately they even screwed up the lighting system on top of all - they have been unable to fix the headlights for past 3 years, so instead they changed the lighting system to make a night to look like 3pm, but it screwed day lighting as well.

Multiplayer is the same like the rest of the game. Completely barebones, barely functional. You don't even have any kind of chat in the lobby.

tldr: skip it, it's not worth the money and considering the current player base, which has a problem to fill one pvp lobby, it doesn't seem like it ever will.

Ok thanks, i was hoping they had patched it up a bit by now but i guess not.
I'll still buy it when the price comes down because it should still be fun to explore the map just like the first game, but coming off the back of forza horizon 4 i expect the rest of the game will feel a bit barebones.

and if anyone at ubisoft happens to read this - the multiplayer... how do you make an always online game called the crew about racing in a crew and manage to neglect the multiplayer so much? only going off the first game here but the multiplayer should be the core of the game and all the game modes and progression should be focused towards racing with/against other players.

NO thank you! I despise PvP in any racing game period! I never touched it in the crew and never touched it here as well I'm totally fine just racing, cruising on my own, or with friends. the game is perfectly fine as is. Still a lot of fun and engaging for me and my friends. if you can't see the fun in the game, then that's your problem. I don't regret pre-ordering this game at all and I'm still enjoying it to this day!

Don't bet on it. The map is built from the same template as in Crew 1, just made worse for some mysterious reasons.

When you ask question but already preface things by banking on negativity, probably bullsh*t answers are the only thing you want to read and best to not buy the game at this rate.

But if you want to get actual, neutral answer then read here:

    - There are some sites removed from the map from the beginning in exchange of more focused craft on land-based race track, as well as on water and air. Unless you're a regular empty-headed complainer, you know this require adjustments and doesn't pop up in a flick of your finger

    - The game have received additions in content since release day, such as new Hovercraft and Demo Derby disciplines and a few more monthly vehicles.

    - There has been adjustments to things as noted in patch notes, which I personally don't notice, but worth mentioning anyway

    - Following the complaints, sky lighting has been changed. Now it's blinding dark only around 11.30 PM to 1.30PM. The rest are daylight with slow sunrise and sunset with blinding sunlight bloom.

    - New part grade with new perk system has been added

    - A few more Race and Skill added on the map

    - New difficulty added, called ACE

    - Rubberband still exists, on higher difficulty NPC get more hostile so far I noticed

    - Hyper Car race NPC was re-adjusted in regards of their performance following the complaints

    - PvP added in a very simple way. You have two playlists: One, Street and Hyper Car races with Collision Off. And two, a 24 hour rotating playlist from other disciplines and may come with Collision On and Off.

-Yes, the PvP is functioning. We all are playing. The matchmaking connectivity, however, may not be that stable. But yes, the game is still active and apparently even more since PvP was released.

    - PvP is more rewarding than PvE in terms of Follower, Bucks, and Parts

Lastly regarding to what you're saying in first post, rubberbanding is indeed absolutely infuriating to have. But if you say it requires no skill, then I'm quite sure you're pretty bad at it. Not only that, always remember that you can tune your vehicles under Pro Settings which plays a lot in changing its behavior and performance. So in this case, you can take the PvE rubberbanding as a hard drill and you'll find PvP to be easy.

So does it improved over the last few months? Yes. Though I would personally say very small.

I'd like to see some proofs of it.

    - for each discipline
    - for each rank in lobby (position on finish)

Personally for me PvP is unplayable because of random connection issues and long time of awaitings don't let me to make some stats about what is more rewarding even if it would run non-stop. Plus here need to know what getting guys on last position on finish.

*I think overall it's not correct to talk about rewarding and compare it with PvE utill in PvP will be represented all disciplines.
But even if you trying to compare, need to compare ACE difficulty Events, which can complete even noobs and last position in lobby in PvP with avarage time of awaiting for players who can't count and playing in PvP instead of quick upgrade in PvE.

Well, I don't keep tabs on the payout, but I've been getting gold parts from doing a fairly fast and easy matches and my rewards in regards of follower and money has been well paid regardless in first position or not, unlike in PvE Hard and Ace.

So in this case, I've been ironically racking millions and buying new cars out of PvP than I did religiously over PvE in the past months. That comes with additional note that I don't see TC2 as a grindy game. I never grind like hamster on a wheel in this game because I think the PvE is very well rewarding, while right now PvP is even much more rewarding for me.

Here is no need tabs. It's obviously that awaiting time in lobby it's a wasting of time and in reward this thing don't compensated.

Your statment is right ONLY in full 8 players lobby running non-stop and if you are always finishing top-3 at least, and ofcourse only when all disciplines will be in PvP

Here took some random screenshots from YT special for you:

    Spoiler:  Show
    5th place in lobby:

Hard (not ACE) mode in PVE same track

    3rd place. Good parts?

Meanwhile in PvE without awaiting :

    Payout in under 2 minutes

So in terms of payout imo PvP looks poor.
