Fresh eyes at the game before eclipse

Hello all, bought the division about 24hrs ago, and thought i'd give a critique as a new to franchise gamer. I'm a sim/RPG/tactical shooter fan at heart, with my all time favorites including Oblivion/Swat 3/CK2/BF3/ and silent hunter 3 (probably why i've an ancient Ubi account), and consider myself a PvA PC exclusive type.
Damn that's a lot of acronyms.

I didn't pick up the division until close to it's EOL, because i generally find a game i like and deep dive it which means generally means, I exclusive to one main game at a time.. Recently i watched quite a few youtube infoshows on D2, so thought ii'd fire D1 up to see if the feel is for me, since it's at a throwaway price. Damn it's impressive, It really hit the nail on the head as a quality game world, the pluses are way too many to list, but the changes of pace, from firefights, to base building, to giving random npcs aid really demonstrates that as an experience it graps with style a huge gambit.

One of the primary reasons, i decided to play D1, was the commentary about D2 being more of a tactical shooter. I know some core fans may not like that direction, but it's all the cake for me. I' hugely excited for a combination of a deep playbox of D1 with the tactical squad promise of D2, and will most likely drop a pre order.

TLDR; Devs done good to fresh eyes.

Forgot to add the exploration, looting, crafting system is awesome, I'd take it further and have aromor degrade and such, but i guess theres a reason why i don't get to design the perfect "Me" game!

Imo it’s also the best coop game I’ve played. Pvp and pve.

What do you mean by armour degrade?

Armour degradation is one of those things that sounds like a good idea, can be cool when it is a novelty but ****** awful to deal with as a day to day game mechanic - if you like that kind of stuff though you'll probably get some enjoyment from survival mode.

When I played the game at release it was so buggy that I literally could not hardly ever finish a mission in between crashes. I normally will give up and go do something else but TD1 kept drawing me in. Most of the patches made the game a little more stable (and usually introduced a new bug or two) but it progressed. I am now at over 2k hours in so I must like it and have pre-ordered TD2.

I don't PvP, but if you need a hand with any of the other content, or want a team mate to get you started just add me. Gamer Tag is the same is this username: Bambihunter1971

Well hey, thank for sharing your thoughts, Zengaze. I'm glad you've been enjoying it so far!

Have you gotten the chance to try some of The Division's more unique gameplay settings, like the Dark Zone or Survival?

Armor degradation, is a reference to the general mechanic of having gear lose effectiveness through use, and therefore require maintenance of some sort . Some like it in their games others do not, Jagged alliance was a game where it worked well, it worked quite well in the dayz mod too. What it tends to do is make you not run your top the line end gear all the time, and therefore adds another player choice/consequence to the mix. The Devs must have explored the idea at some point and decided it didn't fit the vision for their game.

@Bambihunter, cheers dude! I'm running solo atm, as i tutle a lot, exploring every corner, which i know can be a pain in a squad lol.

@Ubi-realdude DZ/Survival, and the higher level content is something i'll progress towards and enjoy the journey instead of jumping straight in. I love higher level risk/loss/reward gameplay, but i'm enjoying messing around exploring the safe zones as it is.

Totally understandable. Be sure to let us know how it goes when you do try it, though. Also if you're ever looking for company with those activities, there's plenty of people here who would love to jump in with you!

Didn't Far Cry 2 or 3 have gun degradation? One of those versions anyway. Didn't really care for it.

If I'm not mistaken , It was Far Cry 2 that had gun degradation.
