Optical camo effect on stealth - video evidence

OK it took a while to work out the best way to test this, but eventually I worked out a spot with a guard patrolling a set route that let me run a repeatable experiment. I only show a few takes, but the result was the same every time. With optical camo the guard never sees me and without it sees me every time.

    Interesting test and approach.
I guess there's another variable that can have some serious impact on how enemy detects you: there's a skill that influences detection possibility, if I remember it right. With that skill not upgraded, the difference may be bigger.
    Good job!

Well, It won't allow you to come that much closer so it's not really helping & you can't move or you will get detected any way.
And you never took a shoot in the test with a silenced weapon to try and see if the optical camo works then with nearby enemies whom would now ce closer.
Will the Optical camo make the sound of your gun more quiet.
Also why not test how much closer you can be with Optical camo before being detected compared to regular camo.
If the Optical camo works, why have they not officially done that with ghillie suits.
Why not just make the functions of optical camo work with ghillie suits (without the blurred effect of course.)

Because it's totally feasible to be using a ghillie suit while positioned in a watch tower, those leaves on the ghillie allow you to blend in with concrete so much easier. Just as Santa Blanca and Unidad, they'll vouch for that. :P

Let me know when you've run some tests on all that, I'd be interested to know the answers as well.

I was doing the 3rd Challenge (CQC kills only) and I was deactivating the Jammer while under optical camo on, the 2 close guards near the jammer/container/helo were coming up to me but were a good 50 meters out and somehow they were detecting me, even w/o optical camo they shouldn't have detected me since the whole Jammer was blocking their view, nonetheless, i immediately went prone and the detention persisted so I had to crawl back the ladders and move away for them to stop detecting me.

Something tells me having it on is a crap shoot so I don't put any money on me using it to not get detected, I rather just keep the same distance I did before w/o it.

Here again is our statement on the function of the optical camo:

"When equipped, the Optical Camo reduces the speed of detection, not the distance from which an enemy detects you."

These are some quotes from SO3 info on ghost-recon.ubisoft.com

From: YEAR 2: SPECIAL OPERATION 3 PATCH NOTES
"Upon completing this mission, you will have access to a prototype to the iconic cloaking device. Each player that completes the mission will get the Optical Camo. When equipped it will offer a boost to stealth."

From: YEAR 2: SPECIAL OPERATION 3 HIGHLIGHTS
Uncover this action-packed plot and complete the mission to get the Optical Camo Backpack, which will boost your stealth.

Where the hell do you got that info from?
"When equipped, the Optical Camo reduces the speed of detection, not the distance from which an enemy detects you."

So, its like the weather forecasters in South Florida... 50/50 chance of rain today!

Waiting for an honest and not vague or general answer from UBI is like betting that you'll win the lotto next time around w/o buying a ticket.

From Ubisoft support staff member UbiSailorScout from a week ago on technical support for ps4.

"Hey there! One of my coworkers mentioned that the Optical Camo does provide a reduction in detection radius as long as you're not moving quickly. Are you able to provide a link to a clip showcasing the issue you are describing?"
