So I'm trying to build a Paris-like city in Map Editor, however, I have a problem. The budget. I had to build a bridge completely from scratch and I haven't even finished it yet and the grid limit has already warned me. Goes without saying, I don't want the 5+ hours I spent on building it to be wasted.
Is there a way to change the budget from actually stopping us to maybe marking the map as "Warning, this map's object budget was exceeded, you may experience fps drops. Proceed with caution" or something? I don't wanna drop the project. Are there any updates coming out to map editor?
By the way I'm running a 750ti and it's running without a problem so I dunno what the budget is for.
Are you using any objects with physics? Anything that can be destroyed? You can only put so many objects with those properties in a grid before the game tells you that it can't accept any more of them in that grid.
I did my own custom bridge (and it's a long one) in one of my maps and used just generic shapes and some guard rails. Didn't run into any limit problems.
Turn on the budget grid and see which grids are red. Those red grids will not be able to accept any more physics objects. To see a list of all physics and/or destructible items, you can use Steve's list: https://list.farcry.info/
Just toggle one or more options on and hit search, and that should help you find which items need to be deleted.
Hope this helps! If not, maybe you could provide a screenshot of your bridge. Maybe with budget grid on as well.
On PC, SP maps should have twice the object budget of DM maps (14K objects vs 7K objects). Depending on which budget is getting hit, you can try to cut down by decreasing object variety (using copies of the same object instead of a completely different object).
Having said that, big city maps tend to stress the budget a lot. There are unofficial ways to workaround (remove) the budget limitation, but keep in mind your map could potentially cause issues for players who don't have a powerful PC.
