Incite a faction war involving Unidad.
Again I used FOB Serpinete to get the challenge done.I didn't mean for it to happen twice at the same time so it caught me off guard with shooting the video. Still was a easy challenge to do here.

Narco Slaughter is another great place to do this.

From the North-most Safehouse in Koani, you can actually fly your Drone right to it and mark any of the group for Sync Shot. Take him out, watch the ensuing bloodbath.

If, for some reason, you don’t get the message that “So & so is attacking whoever,” hop in the Safehouse chopper and fly over the area. You should get the notification, and then just keep flying until you’re in the clear and you can fast travel back to the Safehouse to repeat the process.

Anyone else having trouble with this challenge? I can get the faction war started and get the notice, but do not get credit for the challenge. I’ve done it 5 times now and my progress still reads zero. Do I have to wait for the battle to end or do anything else?

AfAIK, it's always been an issue; basically it will "register" as defined for the challenge when you have random-generated rebels spawn, and take on Unidad (or cartel if that's the challenge). That happened to me on a previous challenge.

You can get the battle started, but it depends on another set of rebels showing up, which you actually haven't summoned. Using Red Cell's example. you need to stay in the area if you've got rebels remaining, and need Unidad to show, and then there'll be engagement. Then some more rebels need to show. It took some time for me to get 3 encounters to register, and thus complete the challenge.

In the example I wrote, I’d simply shoot one Unidad guy, and as long as I was seen by any remaining enemies upon their initial reaction, they’d all just start shooting one another and “SANTA BLANCA IS ATTACKING UNIDAD” would flash while the radar would say “FACTION WARFARE.”

I have had Rebels show up by chance in an area that I was Hunted in and they’ll automatically start engaging whatever enemy is in the area, but I didn’t need that to happen to increase my Challenge progress bar.

If you're willing, I'd sure like to hear back on a sequence of events which ends up triggering at least one of the three challenges successfully.
Perhaps one issue for me is that I'm using a very limited HUD, and for some of these challenges it might be best to change that. This challenge being a good example.
The following did not work in my case: all while remaining undetected; sniped the furthest cartel (no alert). Called for a diversion. Sniped the cartel heavy (I e. Want Unidad to outgun the cartel). They battle, and then the rebels engage remaining Unidad and wipe them out. No successful challenge registered.

uses a different location but same principal as the Narco slaughter location.

Perhaps the key is NOT to do a rebel diversion prior to any engagement commencing. But that doesn't match what Nick reportedly did; a mortar strike to start an engagement.

I tried again but this time I physically took the shot. Bam. Faction war and credit. Left the area and fast traveled to nearest safe house then back to Buchons house and it worked again. I was able to complete the challenge.

Glad it was so straight forward. Interesting that sync shot didn't give you credit, yet that's how I read RedCell's first post.
Would really like to play test in detail the parameters of the faction warfare challenges, but once done, you can't.

So I opened up a Task Force to complete this challenge, I am the only one on it (I read somewhere that I could do that to complete the task force challenges), I opened up the game, incited a faction warfare but nothing happened... what gives?

Do I not take a shot for this thing to complete the challenge? Can I shoot people as well? How long must they fight for it to complete?
