[FEEDBACK] [SUGGESTION] [CUSTOMIZATION] In anticipation of Special Operation 4
I am not once to mince words I will get straight to the point:
Communication from the Community Devs & Community Managers must be improved:
For the past Special Operations, there have been little that even hints that more content is being added. We know it is due to the roadmap - if you indeed remember it being a thing - but releasing all the information the week before and having just a week long PR stint is insufficient. Preferably, the info drops should be over a longer period of time. A month would be preferable. In between, more "behind the scenes" looks would be awesome. Possible topics include how "AI Customization" was added with a look at the system before and after.
Either drastically lower prices or improve the quality of the items in the store:
As much of a Rainbow Six fan I am, I have some serious buyers remorse regarding the Rainbow Six pack. To release a Icon and a weapon for 20 bucks and then have the weapon broken on arrival is frankly inexcusable. I am quite hellbent in saying that the Rainbow Six Pack should have contained all the Rainbow Six Icons. To lock these behind a gambling crate that is more prone to give useless emotes and voice lines is frankly a disgusting practice. I did not like the crates upon inception either but at least then you could only get cosmetic items from them!
The best way to keep this game profitable down the line is a price cut because I think many like me look at the store prices and think "15 bucks for a digital gun? Nah bra". The same goes for the Icons. They bring nothing special to the table aside from looks. For PvE, you can be a bit more daring then that. Special sights and features - I mean th F2000 is released without its iconic built-in sighting system? Why? That is just lazy. Never mind the optics that are still broken or the nearly useful digital sight - or the PvE LMGs that cannot be equipped with an ACOG.
A good way to make the weapons more worth the price would be to allow us to equip our AI Teammates with weapons of our choice. A better way would be to have a set price limit - a weapon or icon should be 3-4 bucks. Everything else less than that. Expensive packs needs to have a lot more value and the only one that currently comes close to that is the Predator one - but there you half-assed the M16.
The challenges are rarely interesting or fun enough to lock things behind
The point of a challenge is just that. To challenge yourself. The only thing I feel when I do the challenges is frustration because more often than not, what makes the entire ordeal painful is usually the gameplay. I stopped bothering with the challenges long ago for this very reason and I praise this decision every time I see a "complete this mission" challenge. You can be a bit more creative than that, please. A "complete this mission but with pistols only!" is not fun, it just makes you play it ad nauseum in the hopes that you will get that specific challenge. And voe on you if you suddenly forget to do a challenge down the line...
It is okey to shamelessly copy things from your own company:
If the outpost system from Far Cry can be implemented as a Rebel Activity, please do.
Do not be afraid to admit faults or combat negative trends:
There is a rumour going around that Ubisoft Staff are not allowed to counter negative threads on the Ghost Recon Subreddit. I have no idea if that is true - I doubt it - but the fact that the rumour exists says something about what the Staff choose to respond to. This is a very old problem for Ghost Recon that puts the Community Manager in the line of the fire. There needs to be more openness what kind of requests are reasonable and what kind are not. For the longest time, we heard "Hey, AI Customization is not possible" only for it to be implemented. I think a lot of the heat you took there could have been absolved had you simply said "Hey, we did not realise you felt so strongly over this feature, let us investigate it" and then kept us in the loop.
Right now, the game seems to treat the community a bit like an afterthought and that is not a good sign. It does not help that you do popular crossovers if the communitys general feeling is that you are not on their side. See how Rainbow Six does it. The reason Its_Epi is almost revered by a large part of the community is because he makes a point to explain why changes are made and when.
