I mean, this tip is good and all, but with how the open-world/mission mechanics of this game work, the issue remains. If there's no way to absolutely CANCEL a mission's current progress, both missions are stuck in a paradox. Santa Blanca is going to attack the Unidad base, alerting every unit there, and the Mission Failed screen will still pop up, respawning you next to Kozak. The scenario will repeat: SB will already be attacking Unidad and the Silent Spade mission will be a failure. We need a proper solution.
In this situation, this tip is like asking "Hey I painted my windows by accident when I just wanted to paint my walls. How do I fix this?" and you answer "We recommand you cover the windows before you do that" without actually giving an answer to the problem we're now facing.
So we have 01.01.2019 and nothing has been done about this. The bug is still in the game and nobody want to do nothing with it. And we are stuck with completing an El Comendante mission and whole sector in order to get 100% of the game done. BIG THX Ubisoft .......![]()
The walkthrough is as follows. Highlight El Comendante as a mission. You should be detected by Unidad, but do not leave the base and start a normal fight as part of the El Comendante mission. Complete this mission and only then you will be able to properly start Silent Spade.Originally Posted by Sp0g0 Go to original post
@PawelScie1985 The GRW team are currently looking to resolve this in a future update. For now, the workaround we have is to complete the El Comandante mission before doing the Silent Spade operation.
The work around does not work for me. Despite having El Comedante selected and being in the yellow circle, I still get the failed due to being detected
Today is April 8th, 2019 and this bug is still happening. There's no way to approach the base in ANY manner without raising an invisible alarm. It'd be great if the GRW team got to fixing this, since they're still charging money for it and profiting from it with microtransactions.
There is a game breaking bug that happens in the Media Luna area of the map, it is related to the two missions “El Camendante” and the first of the “Operation Silent Spade” missions. The problem with these two missions is that Operation Silent Spade requires you to maintain stealth through the entire operation up to a certain point near the end of the mission. Conversely on the El Camendante mission you have to Kill El Camendante. The problem arises when you get close to the large Air Base that these two missions take place in the El Camendante mission has Cartel forces that attack when you get within 450 to 500 meters of the base and will auto fail you on the “Operation Silent Spade” mission creating a endless cycle of mission failings that can only be broken by fast traveling out of the area and avoiding the base completely.
While initially this seemed like an impossible to overcome game breaking bug based on the research and countless threads I have come across as a result including this one, my friend and I who have been returning to the game recently did not want to wait for an official fix. The following guide will walk you through the steps on how to work around the game bug for yourself and complete the El Camendante mission first so that you can progress with the Operation Silent Spade mission as it is meant to be done without the constant fail loop.
Things you will need:
- Friend with patience and godly parachuting skills (or sniping skills if you are a parachute master).
- Celebratory drink of choice.
- Recruit a friend to help (you cannot do this alone unfortunately) and make sure they are either A) really good at sniping or B) can hit a small target with a HALO style parachute jump.
- Go to the Rebel Camp just North of the base, there are three SAM turret locations you should try to take out prior to doing this as it will be easier to fly the helicopter up over the base. Map SAM 1 SAM 2 SAM 3
- Go to a small rock outcropping on the north side of the base. Map Image 1 Image 2
- Have your Friend fly a drone towards the base just outside of the Jamming range and zoom in on the building that he spawns at, be ready to shoot. Map Image 1 Image 2
- Snipe him as soon as he is spotted, he will be on the far side of a large antenna on the second story of the building (Aim about here.), but once he is spotted he will begin walking around the far side of the building and you will lose your opportunity. (he will be roughly 580 meters away, I used the SR-1 for my shot but any rifle should work.)
- Have your friend get a helicopter (you can spawn one of your own, or steal one just north from where your camped at) but one of you needs to stay on the small cliff you are on so that you don't lose the mark on the dead general. (you need to take a picture of his dead body) Map Image 1
- Have your friend fly up above the base (I recommend above 1,500 meters to avoid the other SAM turrets in the area), and parachute onto the roof of the building that you shot the general on, you need to pull your parachute at the absolute last minute to do this properly and you will land without alerting anyone and the Cartel will not be attacking the Unidad forces due to the general already being killed. (Note that at any point after the general dies you are detected you will have to repeat all the steps again as it will fail the other mission.)
- Have your friend carefully sneak down the building and take a picture of the general, then the mission will complete and the next time you fail the Silent Spade mission you will restart it with the proper check points and can resume the quest as originally intended by Ubisoft.
That's a nasty one and I remember it when we first played the mission. Now I come to do it again on a new play through because I want that camo suit for the weekly challenge it hits again.
My solution is really simple but it doesn't help anyone that has begun the loop unless you have made saves.
I make saves - firstly, turn off cloud saves they may be "cool" if you think that way but frankly they are a pain and I prefer to deal locally with save games (I have more control). And given a situation where in their infinite wisdom Ubi like to use this silly save system for most of their games instead of a decent and proper method of creating saves, something like this is essential IMO.
There are and have been a lot of bugs in this game, some of them game breaking such as the sniper supressor bug which had no workaround, getting stuck in rocks or falling through the map in Ghost mode, to name a few. Making saves gets you out of most if not all of those.
So at least for the future make a batch file which allows you to save your current state and if things go wrong you can undo it.
For those that don't know how to do that here is my quick and dirty batch file, it's not the most elegant script but it does what it needs to perfectly - you will need to change the path to the game files, the zipping / raring or 7z method. Otherwise this will allow you to run a save whenever you want - it will ask you for a name (useful so you can name it "after mission El Comandante" if you so desire). If you don't want to put a name in it will provide one for you.
Sorry for those experiencing the Spade bug it really is not hard for Ubi to sort that out but in their usual manner obvious bugs and problems are left to stew for months and even years.
Start saving now and at least you will get some kind of roll back ability when the s**t hits the proverbial fan.
Make of this what you will.....

So when is this game breaking bug going to be fixed?
It's almost a year since this was posted the first time, and I just cannot believe that it can take this log to fix.
A friend of mine and I have almost completed the game, all we have to do is take down El Sueno.
The problem is that we are stuck in this game breaking loop.
We spawn next to the mission giver for Operation silent spade, but as soon as we load in we are already hunted causing the mission to fail and this is how it keeps going on an endless loop.
We can't fast travel because we are being hunted, quitting the game and going back in places us at the nearest rebel camp to this base, but even that is too close as even here we fail the mission.
What's worse is that we have already completed it once, but for some obscure reason it's still active
Given how poorly the stealth in this game is implemented to start with, creating a mission that makes you fail and have to reload the moment you get detected is a stupid idea at best.
When you then make that mission permanently selected and activated as well as placing it close to another mission where you are automatically detected when you get close to the area, then even a child would understand that this would cause problems.
There are a few very simple solutions to this problem.
1. Move the mission giver to a different location so it does not interfere with other mission nearby.
2. Make the mission activated like any other mission and disable any other mission in the area that could interfere while this mission is active.
3. Remove the whole questline from the game.
Here we are today, July 5th of 2020 and STILL, this bug exists, I'm doing a replay of the game and I now have this bug. You really think that ubisoft would've fixed a MASSIVELY GAME BREAKING BUG by now but NO. They wanna make some more cash grab games and not ignore a bug thats been around since 2017. Thank you ubisoft for making another fantastic game with absolutely 0 bugs.
