So let's go through the update...
1. Awesome new theme involving GRFS
2. Badass looking cosmetics and weapons
3. An active camouflage that they community has been asking for
4. A slightly better prestige economy
5. More free content for season pass holders
6. Less duplicates from prestige crates
Wait... now let's go through the list again...
1. A GRFS mission that pretty mundane and has an anticlimactic ending (the truck blew up next to me and the game was like "nice job! you saved the world")
2. Cosmetics that are locked behind the frustrating paywall that is battle crates and ghost packs
3. An active camouflage that doesn't do anything
4. Even more junk such as emotes and patches in crates
5. A tiny pack of copied and pasted clothing (APC is almost exactly the same as JPC, the shirt is the same as the windbreaker, and the helmet cover is for a helmet that doesn't have NVGs or any kind of mountable NVGs)
6. Again, more junk in crates (Also the first 4 crates I opened, 3 were dups and 1 was a patch)
7. Parachute customization - but you can't use any of the 34 camos available to clothing - which no one asked for
Ever since the update has come out, I have seen posts upon posts of disappointed players. I found myself eagerly awaiting this update, but it didn't produce. People wanted longer range scopes on their ARs, more hud customization, cooler knifing animations, unique guns, and even just fixes to already broken mechanics like vehicle spawning and getting stuck in some random piece of junk, or falling out of the world.
I get putting items into a pack, but putting them into battle crates is just ridiculous. The crates used to be somewhat reasonable, as they gave something cool 95% of the time, like a new hat or vest, but recently it has just been emotes and voice lines. They could just add in an emotes and voice line crate if they wanted to, and no one would buy it, but they don't care about the consumer anymore, and it is obvious. We shouldn't celebrate them for adding in 2 free guns and a broken "active camouflage," we should be more critical of the game we love so much.
This brings me to my last point, I don't think I can go on with this game anymore, the PVP is dying and filled with prestige 20s, the PVE is stale because of the lack of repayable content brought to the game, and I feel as though the community is dissipating. It must be a blessing and a curse to be a community manager at Ubisoft. You get to pass on suggestions that the community has, and see what they have to create, but when you being the feedback to corporate, it is just recycled and turned into micro-transactions. I might play a little bit more, but this is basically my goodbye to GRW.
