Far Cry was ALL about reality.
Except the thing is we've had numerous Far Cry games since 2004. And the series began with genetic mutations (Trigens) and every game except 2 has been unrealistic. So maybe your focus shouldn't be on the "odd one out". Considering we've had 7 Far Cry games (not even including DLC).

And no, Primal wasn't realistic. Sorry, but it really wasn't.

FC2 was the only one that could be considered even vaguely realistic, and that's out of 7 games +DLC. (8 if you include New Dawn).

To find balance between FUN and REALISM is task №1. Too much realism = boring, to much fun = buffoonery. (Many people found RDR2 rather boring because of "realism". Some didn't manage to finish the game because of that.) Game needs action, adrenaline and game needs relaxation, immersion. Ballance - is the key. But the most important - game should be INTERESTING! It should arouse our interest. "What is this for?" "What is that for?" "How this work, how that work"..... We should study the game and study in the game. Overcome difficulties and enjoy our success.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-j...-rw/rage_2.jpg As for realism.....I don't think Rage2 looks realistic as postapocalypse! Gameplay looks more like Doom. But as a game may be not bad. We shall see!

By the way, 2019 is a year of postapocalypse games......February 15 - Far Cry:New Dawn, February 22 - Metro:Exodus, May 14 - Rage 2.....We shall compare what game is better! (New Dawn managed to slip before Exodus and Gage2)

I did want to raise that point and saw you beat me to it.

ProGamer133's description is pretty close to the idea behind the altered landscape of Hope County.
I believe the team consulted meteorologists on what is conceivable in a post-nuclear environment, and their knowledge will have certainly helped to shape the vision of New Dawn's setting.

It is a good thing that Ubi set the radiation off at about 17 years. If it is longer than that, I won't be able to kill Joseph Seed if I have the chance in New Dawn.

Far Cry 2 is a pretty good game but boring for some (depends on who plays it) with great mechanics. The only exception is the malaria disease which is annoying as hell. Realistic or not, the story for Far Cry is the most important part of the game.

Hmm, I see it a bit differently. I don't really put much weight into the story of these games. I never expect the story in FC to be compelling. My only expectation of the story is to do a decent enough job at justifying the actions of the player in a meaningful way, but I certainly wouldn't say it's the most important part of the game, I think the base mechanics & systems in the game should be a higher priority personally.

You have a good point. Now we wait for the next Far Cry (not New Dawn).
