I didn't want to say anything previously because 4 or 5 times does not necessarily a trend make, but now I've had this happen 9 days in a row where another agent will join you clearing out a landmark (usually it's underground), then as you are engaging the last baddie he turns rogue behind you, shoots you down in the back and takes your stuff. He gets double loot, you get nothing.
Don't know if it's old or new overall, but last week was the first time it happened to me, but like all trends that stem from infantile behavior it spread like wildfire.
Oh well. I'm not necessarily complaining because, you know, what's the point? Consider it more a warning if you frequent the DZ. From this point on if another agent joins my PvE fight I will disengage and keep my guard up.
Players underground clearing contamination events are easy targets. Its another example of players using the dz environment to their advantage, much like camping at checkpoints, saferooms and manhunt terminals or going rogue on players hooking up to the extraction rope. It kinda feels unfair when it happens to you but its whats makes the dz a pretty unique pvp environment compared to other games.
I really enjoy the DZ; when there is no one else around. It is a fun environment and I hope they implement some sort of that either in the LZ, or have a PvE area (which they said is not likely though it certainly doesn't kill Survival to have both versions). That said, I almost quit The Division early on when the only good gear and later div tech was available in the DZ. It is a toxic environment and once they had mechanisms in place to get proper rewards elsewhere, I left and haven't went back. I'll never understand the mentality of game studios to push people into something they don't want to do. As evident by having both versions in survival, the two modes compliment each other, not conflict. I think the DZ has always been more for griefing than PvP. For PvP, things would be on an even playing field like it is in Last Stand
Three of the nine times it happened to me I managed to recover, fight back and kill the guy, which is saying something since they have such a huge jump on you and have the advantage that you take more damage during the Contamination event. During the last time it happened (last night just before I posted this thread) I put up a valiant fight. We were both wearing Nomad and I held him off for almost a minute, but then comes that inevitable moment where we both proc and he's on the "winning" side of the 50% chance and I am on the losing side of same, so he ended up downing me and took all my caches.
After I respawned I found him a little later clearing a supply drop. He was killing all the NPCs and had his back to the crate, so I casually walked up and stole everything. Not a replacement (gear-wise) for what he took from me, but it still pissed him off just the same, so I was happy. He tried twice to turn rogue to fight me, but because we were so physically close and face-to-face (i.e. he didn't have the jump on me) it was one of those times where he didn't want to lose a second with me shooting him and tried to start shooting instantly after going rogue, but ended up releasing the keys a split-second before the transition was complete, so he didn't change status and it was all friendly fire. He tried again and did the same thing, and after that gave up and just took off.
Too chicken to take me on when he's not behind my back and I am busy with an NPC. Another reason I LOVE Rogue 2.0 - and all the whiners about the change to going rogue are those that liked pulling sneaky crap like that.
When in a group, I would say others leave u alone unless you engage them. I have had only once where I was in a group and the player left group, went rogue and killed me. My time in the DZ has been about 98% solo and get ganked 60% of the time, always at extraction points, never one on one in the open playfield like it should be.Originally Posted by Ubi-Zubi Go to original post
Extractions should be off limits to rogue behavior or at least rope cutting should never have been a thing.
