    Tier rewards - I think I’m done.

What utterly lame rewards. I just hit Tier 20 and got the Wolf Skin camo. WTF?! It’s ugly as hell. I must have 30 camo selections in my inventory that are 10x better suited for a Tier Operator. Prior to that at Tier 25 I got some gladiator era face paint that might have been in fashion during Roman times. Again, WTF?! And before that, an ugly blue ink tattoo.

Arguably the most challenging game mode (now starting to get insanely tedious)a nd the rewards seem picked from the worst of the bottom of the loot crate discard pile. I have to think the jerk who came up with these rewards is having a good laugh every time someone earns one.

Even the HTI BDC is underwhelming compared to the SR-25 Jungle - the jungle also one-shots everything on semi-auto with a 20rd mag and doesn’t look like a stripper’s thong. And I can’t see the Bad News being much better than the regular LVOA-C which is among the worst ARs for damage.

And let’s face it, by Tier 25 you really only need two weapons, a sniper to take out targets at a distance, and a pistol to take out targets up close. There’s no point carrying any kind of weapon that might be useful in a firefight, because you will be dead before you can get a round off if you actually try to engage in a firefight. It’s ludicrous. Like many others I now only turn on Tier Mode now to collect points at the end of a mission in order to preserve my sanity and keep me from throwing my controller through the TV.

What’s more, it now takes about 50,000 Tier points to advance a tier and its going up about 10% per tier. When you consider there are about 100 missions worth about 1000 points each (on average), you will need to play the entire set of campaign missions about 15 to 20 times between Tier 20 and Tier 1. LOL. This game is fun, but not after that kind of grind.

I understand back in the day, you would get Tier Points for taking out vehicles. Now that’s no longer the case. That’s a shame, because if I had just 100 points for every Unidad and SB reinforcement vehicle I’ve destroyed, I would have been at Tier 1 long ago.

I hate to say it, but I think I may be done with this game now after four months. It was a good run, but It’s just got too repetitive. I’ve played the campaign through about four times... a regular campaign, a ghost Mode campaign, a lone wolf campaign, and now I’ve done it all again with my first character in Tier Mode and there’s nothing really left to do. I guess I’ll wait and see what the December drop brings, but I’m not expecting much.

It was a fantastic game, and the Unidad Conspiracy, Peruvian Connection and Fallen Ghosts content was gold, but since then, there’s been nothing in the way of new missions. I guess that’s pretty good. I can’t complain about the entertainment value.

My biggest complaint is that I think Tier Mode really missed the mark... in enjoyment, rewards, sense of accomplishment or satisfaction, and being somewhat achievable without ridiculous amounts of repetition.

All I can hope is that Ubisoft comes out with the next game in this franchise soon. I will be first in line to buy.

Know that feeling when it comes to the "rewards".

I even got a "private jet", which is in fact that twin-engine small prop transport (a C-45 look alike - Beechcraft Model 18) which only sits at the airports. But I sure as heck don't need a gladiator helmet, nor a civil war cap ...

The only saving grace for me is that I hit Tier 20 at end of the my first campaign. So that character is now at 8, and simply trying to do different activities which weren't done when plowing thru the campaign. Been learning to fly the guided-rocket gunship on road patrols for example, destroying the spawning UNIDAD vehicles and other odds and ends; trying different approaches to clearing the various bases, especially the UNIDAD ones. And so on, and so on, including various story missions that previously had only been done once initially.

Since convoys are now rather easy to farm, been thinking of what other weapons to increase to level 30. Perhaps the Mk14 to start. I'm not great at long-range sniping, so I could spend lots of game time getting better, and letting the AI team clean up any major mistakes.

I do plan to reach Tier 5, but I honestly don't know if I'll go beyond that, because as a SP, the rewards don't really matter much in my case. However just playing in the game world is still fun at this point. Plus I still haven't tried Ghost Mode, and have my lone wolf campaign to continue.

The rewards are whatever. There is one that I wanted, the MOH tat at level 10. The rest I never really cared about. As far was weapons, I use three, 416, MP7 and P12. As long as I either flank enemies or engage them at over 100m no problem putting them down even when alerted or at times red engaged. They miss enough at 100+m to actually go toe to toe a bit.

Tier mode really is about the challenge. It can get exciting at the higher tiers.

Yeah the "Private Jet" is funny.

Ghost Mode is a lot of fun. The perma-death thing adds an element of excitement. The limitations on changing gear makes you pre-plan every mission, and make due when that doesn't work.

Yeah, I would say the most exciting playthrough I had was in Ghost Mode on Advanced difficulty with no HUD and limited skills. I still died once in awhile, but backup saves every day meant I only lost the progress of my current session when that happened. It was still painful enough to really incent me to be very cautious with my play style.

The most fun, was my lone wolf playthrough, going loud and proud on regular difficulty with no rebel support, fast travel or helicopters. Reckless can be fun. Death is also quick in lone wolf with no revival so you can’t be stupid if you want to complete a mission.

The most intense play through was Fallen Ghosts. The mood, missions and difficulty of that was just incredibly engaging.

In this most recent Tier Mode play, using my fully developed character from the first campaign who finished the campaign at Tier 30, to get through to Tier 20, I’ve turned the enemy marker HUD back on and use the Rebel skills more. It’s easy to not put yourself in harms way... if I want, I can sit somewhere safe, and just Rebel spot and use the drone to coordinate sync shots until the objective is clear, but WTF is the point of playing this way? That is not fun at all. So I’ve tried playing Tier Mode cautiously but not through the Drone, and when things go sideways, withdraw and call in some Rebel support. It’s an ok way to play. It’s probably more realistic, but it’s just monotonous repetition. I think they went overboard on two things (1) the number of Tier Points you need to get to Tier 1 is just insane, and (2) the aiming and response of the enemies is just super human. And there’s no incentive to continue... the rewards are a joke. If I do it just for the bragging rights to prove I could do it, then it’s more a reminder of how much an idiot I am for wasting al that time trying to achieve some arbitrary goal.

Does anyone else often reflect on the fact, while you’re lying there waiting to be revived in Tier Mode, how resilient everyone else in the game is? Your AI team and the Cartel or a Unidad are engaged in a firefight you can’t participate in, because you have the resilience of a baby in comparison. I’m often chuckling to myself thinking, don’t bother reviving me, I’m just going to go down again in 1ms so take your time and clear the area first. LOL. Who’s the Tier 1 operator?

You have to enjoy stealth play and CQC. If you don't mind taking the time to clear a base or the path to an objective with slow deliberate movements grabbing guys and dragging them off to kill, things like that, then it can be really fun.

If you prefer to have static firefights than tier mode isn't for you. If you go down, when you get up use your "painless" to break contact, get under cover, and maneuver to flank them. Static firefights need to occur at distance(100+m).

I never used save games for when I died(which is how I lost my Tier 15 Ghost mode character and currently am starting that over). I only used it for clear glitches such as falling through the ground, or a chute getting hung in the open air.

After reaching tier 1 myself, the rewards are less than impressive but it did give me a sense of achievement.
But definitely wish they would add something for the higher tier players, either a new skill like lockpicking or a completely unique item/set or even like a new set of missions.

As it is right now, grinding it for rewards just isn't worth it at all. You literally get a damn paint job for reaching tier 1.

I started a new thread on the absurdity of the tier points required to achieve Tier 1...

I understand your anger and even if I agree with you, the masses and the casuals and those that purchase cosmetics have ruined it for everyone. I would do exactly the same thing, put the good stuff behind a pay wall and only give away the cheap crap, and I mean the cheapest crap I can think off in order to anger the customer and make him/her buy the good stuff... it sure as **** works by the looks of it.

This is the rewards you get for helping them so to speak.
