Is this an out-of-season April Fool's joke?
It is rather symbolic, really - our loyalty is literally being expired by Ubisoft.
Serious talk now, is this how Ubisoft is trying to re-acquire brand loyalty, by jumping on the bandwagon of bad ideas and penalizing consumers for attention? Taking away what I already earned/bought isn't giving me incentive for repeat business with the brand, rather the opposite.
This seems like a really bad publicity campaign designed to put Ubisoft's name in the news for whatever reason, using those who will now add Ubisoft to a list of companies to not buy from, because we're tired of companies being ******y to us. This is the wrong time to do this, when it seems like every other company is doing the same. That isn't excusing this being a complete bad idea, but it is just compounding the severe NON-loyalty customers have been receiving from all angles lately.
I'm still trying to wrap my mind around how anyone could have thought this a good idea when offering a bonus for buying more games in a certain time - as a reward for loyalty - is an obvious option.
But no, Ubisoft would rather tell us they're going to take our loyalty away.
