I find it funny how people freak out over something so small as 2 factor. Ever try to play a Korean game? You need a Korean SSN and a Phone number. But people here freak out over an app you can download on a phone or your computer. >.> Guess people need a reason to complain about something.
Also, you can get free phones now days in most of the states any way with Straight Talk and other companies. You just buy their service which is like $25 or so. Phones in the States any way are not that costly if you get prepaid.

I wouldn't mind to give my SSN, if cheaters were going to be charged legally for cheating and taken to court. But 2 step verification will have no impact to cheating at all (because phone numbers are not going to get banned/you are going to "activate" as many copies as you want with one phone number). So it is annoying, I agree with the OP.
