What is with the hunter spam?

For the last 3-4 days been getting crazy numbers of hunters on resistance waves - from around wave 7 onwards almost every wave has 1-3 hunters! I don't mind a challenge but contamination waves are pretty crazy - in dozens and dozens of hours of playing upto now I've never seen hunters on a contamination wave before.

    Sounds like an intense game!
How long did you take for you guys to melt all 3 hunters?

Varied - was more than one game - some teams straight wiped others coped with it.

Unfortunately only recorded the first time it happened on a contamination wave and not playing my best as having hunters spawn on a contamination wave with their disruption was rather unexpected and had us all on the backfoot (atleast personally I've never had it happen before).

Seems to have stopped happening (so far) now the GE has ended - dunno what was up with that though it provided a change of pace.

I was working recently on trying to Solo the wave 20 commendation. My last one, I died to contamination after killing 2 hunters. I was running D3 with Predatory on my guns, 15% health on kill, first aid and was doing great, but I spent the remaining 3 medkits and ultimately succumbed to contamination because the hunter was being a little b1+ch and running and running from me. I was just chasing the last one full sprint with my D3. I was like come on, turn around and try to axe me. He just cover to cover, rolled, popped heal, dropped turret, EMP'ed me so I couldn't use my First Aid.

Honestly, I absolutely love fighting the hunters. They are by far my favorite enemies in the game (Apollo is probably 2nd), but including them on contamination wave is brutal.

Yeah I'd struggle with them solo with the setups I usually use as the low health with high skill power doesn't do so well when you have contamination + disruption to deal with :s

You're right, fighting Hunters can sometimes vary.
Once I was fighting 2 Hunters, but unfortunately my team didn't have the right fire power or skill to help me take them down. Seemed like we were shooting at him forever.

Just watched your clip, you guys did a good job melting the Hunters one-by-one.

The hunters had their medic boxes out around the corner from us which was making them impossible to kill at first and it was a bit tricky trying to communicate with random players so as to move further back and pull the hunters out of the range of their healing.

I thought it was rather funny. Doing the usual mission grind in the underground on World Tier 1. Making them run around in the whole area, trying to find cover and constantly using their healing skills. Other than that, they sometimes can be really annoying and spawn right in front of you .. one touch and you are down. Also don't understand those legendary missions, when NPCs all rush towards the team they can take 4 players out in a few seconds, just by bumping into them.

I'm with you echo, the one hit melee in Legendary is a bit much. I understand it moreso with hunters since they carry an axe. The part that I don't know if was by design is there is an area of effect (AoE) to their melee's. I was running a D3 build and was using myself as bait to draw the hunter out so the lonestar guy beside me could melt him. He hit my shield (which can withstand 4 hits before it is gone), but that downed not only the lonestar immediately to my right, but also a guy on about my 9 o'clock position. That is one heck of a swing...
