    Errorcode crash 04040008

    So I verified as the game errormessage told me but that did not help.
    I am reinstalling at the moment which will take a day.
    In the meantime I would like to know from support what the code [04040008] stands for.

    Could you advise whether that was a crash in-game or whether that was a crash when launching the game? Additionally, I do realise that you are reinstalling the game however do you have a screenshot of the error message by any chance?

    The crash happened during startup.
    I did not make any screenshot. It essentially said "Seems like files are missing. Please verify the game" and the code [04040008] was shown after that message.
    Clicked OK and then the "OH NO IT CRASHED" popup from Uplay came.
    Either way, the issue has been resolved by reinstalling. I carried over a quite old installation, looks like the Uplay verify needs some work.

    So my advice regarding this very issue 04040008 (seems to be caused by using an old installation) is to reinstall.
    It worked before
