Please stop Google translating cards names and respect the show

    Hello,

Today you revealed a new card, Mr.Slave Executionner.
And once more the translation of the card has been butchered in the french version (and probably in other non-english versions). He's been named "M.Bourreau d'Esclave" which is a straight up literal translation of the english card.

It's like they translated Mr. "Slave Executionner" and not "Mr.Slave" Executionner. It's like they don't even know that Mr.Slave is his ****ing name in the show and not his title or job or whatever.
And it is exactly the same **** with Starvin Marvin whose french name is a literal translation (Marvin L'Affamé) and not the actual name in the show (Pascal Ladalle, which is much funnier for french ppl).

Yeas I am mad, been watching SP since 12 y/o (now 32) and it really pisses me of to see that just a simple thing as having the correct character names isn't even respected by your team. Get your shis straight for once.

Thank you for letting us know about this! I had no idea and I've filed a report with our translators about both of these names. I really appreciate it.

Thank you Toller for your answer and for filing a report.
I'm sorry if that sounded rude, but even if that's a (very) minor problem next to the still-existing bugs or balance problems, I think it's still fair to non-english players that the names fit with the show they love. Also I think the problem is only for these 2 cards so it's not much.

Funny thing is, at some point this year there was an event featuring headhunters and the name for Starvin Marvin was correctly translated in the in-game news, so it's not like the team doesn't know the true name.

No apology required. I understand this would be frustrating to see, but the team is on it and should fix them up soon!

We here in Flanders (Dutch speaking part of Belgium) don't voice over or translate foreign movies or series, but keep them in their original language (except the ones for little kids). We use subtitles and names of characters are never translated. So no problems with bad translations and it helps in learning foreign languages. Maybe the rest of the world should do the same
In fact a recent study showed that our youths are getting less good at English and even at reading Dutch, because more and more childrens series are being voiced over from English to Dutch instead of using subtitles.

That's fascinating! You know, it does make sense when you think about it. I've never considered how using subtitles like that could impact learning for children. I think Flanders has the right idea!

But it's still pretty annoying that the cards have mixed languages.

Are there any other cards that need translation fixes that haven't been mentioned yet? Please let us know!
