Map Recreation [PS4]: The Block from Battlefield Hardline

So I've decided to do a map recreation. Been wanting to do one for a while. Not sure how many people here have heard of the game or the map, but I've chosen this specific map due to the size. It's way too chaotic for me in the original with 64 or 32 players (depending on game mode), but it should fit in just fine with Far Cry 5's 12-player multiplayer. Besides that, I'm also one of the few who has enjoyed my time playing it. Certainly a different theme compared to the countless military shooters out there.

Being my first time recreating a map, it isn't an exact recreation and isn't to scale either, even with the roughly 100 (or more, I didn't count) reference pictures I took. It looks a bit bland and far too clean when compared to the original. I'm aware of a lot of flaws, but I'm still proud of the effort and time I put into doing this project. That being said, I'm not sure if I'll do another recreation.

And now moving on to actually showing off the map and loadouts!

There are 4 loadouts, each one acting as a class from Hardline. I also tried using weapons that were featured in the game best I could. Those loadouts are:

Operator: AKM, P226, Baseball Bat, Health Kit (x2), Grenade (x1)

Engineer: MP5SD, .44 Magnum, M-79, Socket Pipe, Molotov (x3), Repair Torch (can you even kill other players with this like in the original?)

Enforcer: SBS, 1911, Shovel, Remote Explosive (x2)

Professional: 308 Carbine, Skorpion, Aluminum Bat, Proximity Explosive (x1), Smoke Grenade (x3)

Each loadout also has a parachute and ability to grapple.

There are pick-up weapons scattered around the map (2 LMGs and 1 RPG) just like in the original, as well as a health and ammo station (basic ammo only, location marked by flare) nearby each team's spawn location. The health stations replace 2 of the 3 defibrillator stations that were present in the original. Ammo stations were added since Far Cry 5 has no ability to resupply teammates with ammo.

As for the pictures, I'll do something a little different by showing the original map above the recreated map.

    Spoiler:  Show

    Really awesome.

Dude, use cracked concrete texture for those house walls.

Also the walls in pics 11 & 17 I think can be made with the zombie wall assets with the pillars.

Also try different sky and Post FX - as you can see, the original has a grey darkish sky. That can be done which will also make the whole look of the map better. Play around with the Sky Occlusion slider.

2nd to last pic, just need a generic platform piece on top of that building.

With a few tweaks you could have it looking more or less exactly the same

I could look into all of that. Not sure how the house wall thing will go, but the sky and rooftop stuff I should be able to do. Not sure how I missed that rooftop.

I didn't even see the zombie wall assets until I just now looked it up in Steve's list. Looks like a far better wall to use than the generic brick wall I placed.

EDIT: Got some gameplay footage of my first match. Tried to show off all loadouts and as much of the map as I could.

I made some of the changes that were suggested, including adding the new wall. Thanks Sabotur for that suggestion! Wouldn't have found those assets if you didn't mention them.

I do have a question that hopefully somebody on here can help with as well. Around the 2:49 mark there is a dirt texture placed on what should be some generic asphalt. I went back into the editor after this match and didn't see it there. It was still the generic asphalt texture. Anyone know what's going on there and how to fix it? Didn't notice any similar issues elsewhere on the map.

While looking into that odd texture issue, I also fixed some issues where the player couldn't squeeze between certain objects, like the section of the map with the truck next to the wall at the 1:42 mark.

That looks like a good start. There's also graffiti you can put on walls in your alley.
