I have been thinking about new heroes recently and this idea is by far my best.
'Varangian guard' was viking warriors hired by the Eastern Roman Empire to serve as bodyguards and shock troops around 1000ad - 1400ad. The results are a mixup of viking and orthodox christian armour. The most iconic varangian weapon was the 'dane axe' (the one Raider uses) but the late varangian used an one-handed, throwable axe and shield.
I believe that this can work as a frame for multiple designs of armour as well as axe/shield. There are plenty of interesting Eastern Roman (Byzantine) armour that could work in this context.
To the big question - what feats should Varangian have?
Here are my ideas of feats that would fit the best for said hero when looking into history.
Throwing Axe
Arcuballista Fire: Similar to the feat Archer Fire but smaller area-of-effect and more damage because of the use of crossbows.
Arcuballista is what byzantine-greeks said when refering to a crossbow, or at least what we know of.
I believe that this is a stellar idea for new armour designs to be introduced, like for example scale armour.
Tell me what you think of this idea and if Ubisoft should do something with it.
