[PC]Leveling in match sometimes does not reward Feats | Forums

There are occasions when leveling up in a match such as Dominion, Tribute or Breach does not unlock the Feat for that level. This seems to happen at random for any hero. I didn't see this listed as a known issue, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one to experience this

The bug will sometimes fix it self after gaining a new level in the match, but I've had it where all 3 of the first feats were all locked till I hit level 4. At level 4 they would just all unlock at once

I've provided a snip from a screen shot I took earlier today. In it you can see I'm level 3, but my feats are still locked

Thanks for reporting this, I haven't seen this come up before.

Can you try verifying your game files in the first instance?

If the issue persists, any recorded footage or full screen images showing the issue would be appreciated to forward along to the game teams for investigation.

I saw this issue raised on the steam forums sometime in the past week or so but decided not to comment on it. I went digging for it but couldn't find it unfortunately. I'll gladly take more screen shots though and will start recording my gameplay to catch it in action. I'll also verify my files before doing any of this. I can't really predict when it'll happen again, though it happens consistently enough to be noticeable. I'll have to get back to this within a day or so when I've produced further evidence

I'll link the 3 screen shots I took from the above post in full, though I play at 4k and needed to resize them to 1080. This was a Dominion game, Matchmaking On vs Bots, for reference

Small update on this. I verified files and played for a while over the weekend, recording all my matches without running into this bug. Though Monday morning I think it was, I just wanted to get in a few quick rounds and ran into the bug twice. Of course I decided not to setup my record software and murphy's law took over. I did however take a screen shot of each instance which are below

In this one my level 1 Feat did not unlock, however it fixed it self when I reached level 2

I will continue to attempt to catch video of the bug. I am starting to see a slight pattern though. Usually it has something to do with an opponent dying that I damaged, but they died by other means. Like if they died to a minion, died from falling, or someone else finished them moments later after they've run away from me. I seem to get the Renown from their death, the bar moves, but it doesn't actually trigger the level

I see this is being looked into now, and was also mentioned in one of the For Honor streams. I would guess they know what's causing this by now, but I wanted to post my findings anyway for just in case

I have determined that the cause of feats not unlocking is when you are rewarded the Ace renown reward midgame. If you are close to level, and you get Ace +20 renown, you will not unlock the feat on level up. This only happens when it's Ace +20 that levels you. I have been able to reproduce this 100%. If you manage to level by means of direct points (ie: A kill, standing in capture zone, killing a minion) any previous feats that were locked by the bug, will unlock. However if Ace levels you again, your next feat (and previous bugged feats) will remain locked

I'm not actually sure what even rewards "Ace". I've usually seen it pop up at the very end of a match when you win, but now that I've been paying close attention to where my xp is coming from, I notice I'm rewarded Ace quite often
