Help me out with this role play idea...

I’m thinking my next play through will be a lone wolf (no AI Team) on Normal difficulty and the premise will be inspired by Benicio del Toro’s character in Sicario.

The idea is that he is a former Cartel Sicario and is out for vengeance for some wrong doing the Cartel committed against him. Is he from the SB Cartel or a rival cartel? Maybe he’s avenging the death of his family?

At any rate, He wants to destroy all aspects of the Cartel and make a statement doing it.

I’m thinking that he was working with a CIA agent in the region with a team of US Ghosts but they got tragically wiped out (in Ghost Mode) and he’s all that’s left.

I’m thinking this justifies my desire to play a bit more loud and reckless this time as this character has nothing to lose and wants to make a noticeable mark.

I will use my previous campaign character with full skill tree and all gear and just reconfigure him and go through the campaign again by manually activating the missions.

He doesn’t give a crap about the rebels and won’t ask for their help. He also doesn’t care for the Unidad and has no problem killing them whenever he can.

Thoughts? Any ideas on how to flesh out the back story or motivations for this character a bit more? I’m open to any ideas.

Your guy has a pretty good skill set, so maybe he was Bolivian special forces before he joined the Cartel.

Thanks. That could be a good angle.

I’m thinking that the main enemies this character has are Sueno, Muro, and Plaga. Based on the backstory to those characters, they grew up in Mexico before starting Santa Blanca in Bolivia. Muro spent time in the Mexican military. So maybe this character grew up in Mexico alongside Muro too. At some point, they have a falling out, and my character’s entire family is killed and my character is left for dead. He then sets out on a path to track them down and extract revenge.

My character ends up meeting Sandoval in Bolivia just before Sandoval’s cover is blown and that’s how he meets Bowman and the Ghosts who set him on this path.

There’s still a lot of stuff that needs explaining.

It also means that extracting El Muro won’t be an option. That mission will be a failure the way I would have to play it. And only one of the endings makes any sense.

So maybe El Muro and your guy were in the same branch of armed forces when El Muro got recruited. His whole team deserted in the middle of an op, which got your team killed. He didn’t know you or your team and whilst in favour of deserting he actually argued against the timing as he didn’t want to leave other soldiers to die. It was because of this loyal trait that after they all went to work for Sueno he rose furthest.

This would fit his character with the dialog after his capture where he says he wants to kill Sueno but not betray him. It also gives you a reason for showing him mercy.

That’s a great idea... maybe he doesn’t hate Muro as much.

I think he has to have been betrayed by Sueno somehow. He needs to hate Sueno and Plaga for sure. And he needs to have a sense of nothing to lose (no family left in this world).

Maybe in the last days in Mexico, Sueno has to sacrifice someone to appease some wrong doing against a rival Mexican cartel and this character and his family was the sacrifice. Maybe Plaga was the hitmen that carried out the task of killing him and his family (but obviously failed to kill him - leaving him for dead). Maybe Muro wasn’t directly involved.

Of course, I don’t need a strong back story for why this character hates those three, and is on a vengeful rampage against certain members of the Cartel, but it’s fun coming up with possible back stories.
