I disagree with you Baelin.
JJ has a very versatile kit with dodges, and yes some weakness, but if you learn to exploit his sifu with good timing, and the combos he has available you can see the reason for this weakness. Opening with a light and then his heavy have similar startup animations, making it hard to tell which is which. Opening with a heavy on ANY characters brings massive risks, and JJ is no different. This is how it is intended and how it should be to make up for the other things he benefits from, such as infinite stamina, the hyper armor itself. his magic dodge attack that guard breaks dont even connect too if performed too late into it.
In short if an orochi can be guardbroken out of his side dodge attack, JJ should be able to be guardbroken out of his heavy startups. And TBH it takes some skill and fearlessness to GB during his heavies. If it starts happening to you more frequently start opening with lights instead, Or cancel into SIfu's poise (which gets you distance from the GB) instead of hard feinting.
Orochi side dodge attack is a light at 600ms in total. and he has massive guard break frames. If JJ 900ms heavies that do way more damage were immune to guardbreak... that'd be freaking OP.
In my experience playing JJ and against JJ the best players are those that rarely hard feint, but have perfected the placements and spamming of canceling into sifu's poise.
Also JJ is extremely strong. I don't think he needs a serious nerf or anything. I really don't like the nerf ideology, but he certainly does not need a buff and certainly needs to keep this specific weakness.
"Personally, it feels bugged to me. No other character can literally be gb from just about every attack they throw. "
Also actually im pretty sure EVERY character that opens with a heavy can be GBed during its startup. I might be wrong, but that's pretty standard. However to do this generally requires people to mind game you and predict your heavies. So if this is happening a lot to you you really are being too predictable.
Every attack has a gb vulnerability, including lights, and the vulnerability is based on the speed of your attack. Since JJ has an extremely slow moving heavy coupled with a feint window late into his attack (which also means he has a parry window later into his attack), he has a higher guardbreak vulnerability than most other characters. Because his feint window is also later into his attack, it also hinders options he has from feinting his unblockable into anything else, since people can just dodge the unblockable and any option you try to throw from after a feint (unlike Kensei who has a softfeint into gb or like anyone else with an unblockable who can guardbreak straight from an unblockable).Originally Posted by BaelinFisherman Go to original post
I've brought this issue up before (not for being guardbreaked constantly, but because one dodge denies all offense from JJ) and people told me to **** off because "JJ is OP". But then again what's the point of the unblockable or any of his mixups if they don't actually do anything
