If using that glitch-prone cloud save feature, perhaps click it off, then delete the appropriate folder within the Ubusift file sequence of games, start a new game, exit, then put back a saved file, perhaps that will restore the game to the appropriate level.
There's been many issues with saved games getting "lost" based on the Ubisoft cloud save feature not working correctly.

These kind of reasons are why I refuse to play Ghost Mode. I mean I'm pretty careful for the most part on the rugged terrain because I know you can sometimes fall through it and die, but sometimes your best vantage point is on high rocks surrounded by foliage that are hard to get up on and difficult to even see the surface around them. This means you can sometimes get stuck in holes in between them and even fall through under the map and die. If I die in a mode with permadeath I want it to be from a legit enemy kill, not a glitch.
