Now hold on, before you freak out, just listen to what I have to say.
Fights in For honor are at their best when both contenders are at around the same health, unfortunately, there is currently the possibility of reaching 1 HP. There used to be a feature where you could regenerate your final health bar segment, that really gave the player a fighting chance.
Unfortunately, with this being removed, you either must parry an attack, or die trying. The problem is parrying isn’t as easy when you’re freaking out at 1 HP with your opponent fainting tons of heavy attacks.
This happens to everyone at some point, and it’s frustrating and definitely my least favorite part of the game.
So before you say “git gud” I’m very experienced and a day one player. Block damage has always been useful as it wears down the health bar. It was fine the way it was before, your skill to land hits should always be rewarded more than spamming against a blocking opponent to kill them when they’re near death.
This is why we have guard break, unblockables, and the centurion. This is why we can cancel attacks, and juke out our opponent. It should never come down to light spam attacks as it does now.
At the very least, bring this feature back for team based modes where it’s actually noticeable.
If you're at 1 HP bar, you're still very much within range to be killed in one hit. Block damage cannot kill you, so there's no reason to be afraid of that. It might save you once against a weaker light attack, but I believe they removed it to help combat turtles like Conq, where it's nigh impossible to land a heavy, and if he had that HP regen, even getting a light didn't amount to much. There's a reason it's gone, and I don't miss it.
