Monthly Balancing, Ongoing Test Servers, and Hero Dedicated Sub-Forums

    Monthly Balancing:
Character reworks, tweaks, etc. needs to be done monthly instead of two reworks every three months. We have a 22 character roster and two reworks a season would mean it would take at least two years to balance the game. I recommend two reworks a month since some reworks have turned out to be less than ideal on the first pass, examples include Peacekeeper, Valkyrie, and Orochi.

    Ongoing Test Servers:

Using ongoing test servers for balancing will allow the developers to take risks and gain rapid feedback. This would be better than waiting 3+ months for reworks only to find that the community is not happy with the changes and the demand for balancing characters, that have already been reworked/tweaked, remains. Ongoing test servers should help speed up the balancing process and help improve transparency regarding balance.

    Hero Dedicated Sub-Forums:

I feel that there should be a dedicated sub-forum for each hero regarding balance. That way all the various forms of feedback for the characters, from reworks to nerfs, would be centralised rather than scattered, and both the moderators and developers would have a common source of feedback that would be more convenient to refer to regularly.

Nah. They're too busy going on vacations and browsing reddit memes.

Lock this thread and ban the OP.

Skrzymir your joke is bad and you should feel bad.

Preach it OP. FFS look at Battlefield 4. They did this and the game still has a sizable following 5 years later.

Great idea would be a direct channel with the community, and could start now with all this game balancing issue.

We've let the team know that more frequent balancing is an appealing idea for the community, and we'll continue to do so.

I love the theory of hero-specific subforums, but what happens in practice is that less people visit those subforums. If I were to rigorously move threads to these hero subforums, I think the odds are that the discussion would die. This is just based on my personal experience modding the forums for a few different Ubi games.

Thanks for that. I hope they embrace the idea of ongoing test servers too if they are on board with more frequent balancing.

The logic behind the hero subforums was to centralise common thoughts and leave the more unique post to the other subforums. It was also to help reduce good posts being overlooked. I've seen separate threads merged in these forums from time to time because they covered the same topic so I thought hero subforums would address that issue as well. Well, if my first two wishes will be fulfilled, then I would be happy. Thanks again.

In light of the ongoing issues with balance and the reactions to the reworks, the original post remains very relevant. I still want to see test servers implemented sooner rather than later to avoid over-tuned characters being put into the live game.
