Does anyone know what you get for boosting your gear score with steel?

I know the basic mechanics, you use steel to help get your perk numbers up to 600 , so you can access the perk. Some times you need to spend steel. But if I reach 600 for all three perks what incentives do I have to make my gear score 180 currently below 170 . What do u get?

As far as I can tell, a slightly easier time in arcade mode. Other than that, nothing.
