    Helicopter Control

I put a thread on a few weeks back suggesting a new helicopter control system, to which one of the Mods quite reasonable stated that since their were two system already a third was unlikely.

I wanted to revisit this as I had an idea that may be far simpler to implement and might lead to greater player satisfaction.

My new suggestion is that the two systems are left as they are but, when in the pilot seat, (and only when in the pilot seat), the ‘change seat’ button could be used to switch between the two control methods. Obviously this would save the hassle of having to go via the options menu.

Now, ideally, a short press of the button would toggle a crosshair on and off in both systems and a long press would switch system completely.

    Ubi, what do you think?

Interesting concept, never thought of that. I can usually avoid SAMs by picking my flight path carefully, ducking behind hills, flying low, or swing dodging, but it's always good to have one more tool in your belt. Do you have any videos of doing this you could show us by any chance?

That is an interesting idea. I’ll try that. How about short press, change seat, long press, change control method?

I can see how it works but think it’s more another flaw in the new control system. The classic allows you to dive considerably faster. I know the video only shows a couple of examples, but I think with the classic the same result could have been achieved.

Honestly I would be happy if they could just add a crosshair to the classic.

I’m still definitely going to try this though.

I think in both modes you still need to press middle mouse button to change the seat, but i have no problem with a long press

SAMs are not as bothersome as they were before but with the big birfd that is a nice exploit to try for sure.

I guess is all about timing your seat change and then back to the pilot's chair before you hit the ground... how long before you're back to hovering?

well all depend in the altitude and how fast you're descending

Tested it yesterday on a small bird and the descent was not fast but the recovery was so that was good... I would never try with the big bird in the canyon as a first tryout that's for sure LOL.

I was flying an airplane in that canyon province and I was able to evade all the SAMs painting the freaking plane only to dish it out about 500 meters away from the landing strip... I hate those airplane missions that take you 3 to 4 provinces away. Ugh. I am ok with the Helos because as long as you keep your distance, the sams won't bother you.
