    Guest dancer joining mid game

I'm having issues with a guest dancer joining mid game, while I'm playing solo. The score then gets divided by myself as it switches to the guest dancer from my own personal dancer. I'm using the PS4 Camera, anyone has the same problem and how would I go in fixing this? Getting scores this way is hard as they are split into two.

    That's super frustrating!

It seems like it would help if you could declare Single Player Only instead of Single/Multiple Player, with the idea that it would only give a single score to a single player in this mode. But maybe it's more complicated than it seems. If the camera gets confused and perceives that there are two dancers (or if someone else happens to enter the room and is moving around), how would the camera decide which person's motion to use? But the way I see it, even in this situation, any score that gets registered, if it all gets added to the original player's score, that would be better than the current system where it gets divided into two separate scores.

As far as using the PS4 camera goes... It can get confused by objects in the background. I setup a screen behind me that is 10 feet wide (and then I added blankets to the side of it when I realized I needed more width for some of the dances). The edges of my background can cause issues (so I strived to make edges as seamless as possible). If I sit in a chair or lean on a table at the edge of the camera's field of vision, it can get confused. If I pick up a towel in the camera's field of vision while dancing, it sometimes gets confused. If I walk out of the camera's vision too many times, the body-outline image degrades over time. Actually, even if I just dance to several songs in a row, the body-outline image gets degraded over time and the camera is more likely to get confused. So after a few songs or any sign of problems, I close the game and then reopen it if I still wish to dance. This seems to give the camera a fresh start.

If other people or large pets are in your dancing room, that can cause camera confusion.

Personally, I've had the best luck with the camera picking me up by wearing bright colors like green, orange, and yellow (but not as much with white or red) against a dark background (for whatever reason, dark against light didn't seem to work as well for me), with solid colors (rather than patterns). I also get a better experience with a light directly behind and above the t.v., turning other room lights off and blocking light from windows and doors. I study the body-outline image before the dance begins and make sure that it has the shape of a human, and if things go south during game play I give that a quick look. There is a great post by Warfutt on this forum somewhere, with detailed info about setting up the PS4 camera (though if I recall correctly, colors weren't such an issue in that post).

(I don't go to all this trouble when instead I use Xbox Kinect, which is much more plug-and-play.)

Good luck and happy dancing. :-)

Again I would love to direct you to our community member post that describes in great detail how to best set up the PS4 camera and how to dance with it.

Go have a look here and see if this resolves any issues that you're experiencing

I shared that with you as well earlier this year greekphysics, and thank you for continuing to help your fellow Just Dancers
