[FEEDBACK] What I like about Wildlands

    Dear Ubisoft,

First and foremost, I like this game because it is fun!

I really enjoy hopping in the Extreme Sports Car and driving across the map to a mission. It's not very realistic, but it sure is fun! I really love jumping in a helicopter and shooting up a supply convoy or a Santa Blanca base! It's not very realistic, but is sure is fun!

I really liked playing almost 100% tactical on my first play through. I liked taking a long time to reconnoiter a target and try to figure out the best approach. I screwed up a lot, and I sometimes got upset about investing so much time in a mission that I failed, but I realize now that I was way too limited in my thinking. A lot of times my best approach was the worst approach. I have learned a lot about thinking out of the box from playing this game. While this learning process was sometimes painful, I am a better gamer because of it. I also learned a lot from other players, the forums, and people who stream this game. So I benefited from the existence of the larger community.

After my first play through, I started playing Ghost War. I was and am terrible at Ghost War, but I love playing. I'm old and slow and my vision and memory are terrible, so it's hard to keep up with the youngsters. But I mostly run a drone and try to get a drop on enemies from a distance. I also try to use mines and other tricks to make up for my lack of skill. Also, I think Ghost War requires a more thoughtful approach than some other PvP shooters. I like to think of Ghost War as Chess with Guns.

After playing Ghost War a few months, I went back and started another play through of the campaign. I had even more fun the second time! Because of my bad memory, I completely forgot all of the missions, so it was like a new game for me. Also, I was less concerned about trying to optimize my mission solutions, which allowed me to focus more on having fun. I spent less time on reconnaissance and more time flying helicopters. I really, really like flying helicopters in this game. I also spent more time experimenting with different guns and found that some assumptions I made the first time through were incorrect. I spent a lot of time using the Crossbow for sniping and the SR-635 for CQB. I spent less time hiding behind cover and more time running and gunning. I also remembered to use those Rebel Hired Guns, Mortars, and Distractions. And I put down lots of mines, because that's the best way to take out a truck full of Tangoes! Oh, and I skipped all of the cut scenes and stuff and made up my own stories for each mission. Sometimes I was still the Super Sneaky Ghost who went in and out without leaving a trace. Sometimes me and my team were there to wipe out and entire base to send a message to the Cartel. And sometimes, I got on a motorcycle and harassed a bunch of Unidad guys, just because it was fun!

To summarize: I like driving fast cars, flying helicopters with guns, and killing bad guys.

In fact, when someone tells me I should try a game, I always ask, "Can I drive a car? Can I fly a helicopter? Can I shoot the bad guys?" This game has helped me figure out what I like about games and what I expect to see in other games.

My favorite cars in the game are the Extreme Sports Car, the Trophy Truck, the 4-seat Unidad Buggy with the gun, and the Military 4x4.

My favorite helicopters in the game are the Santa Blanca Helicopter with the twin guns and the default helicopter.

I know a lot of people complain about the lack of realism in this game, but if this game was truly realistic there would be a nationwide manhunt for the Ghosts. You might get away with 2 or 3 missions before attracting serious national police attention. Also, I think realistic game is an obvious oxymoron. Don't get me wrong, I love the level of detail in the environment. But I'm glad that flying helicopters is easy and nothing like the real thing. I love that I can steal cars and helicopters and nothing much happens. I love that I can shoot up an army base and drive away really fast.

I know I've asked about a sequel before, so I won't repeat that here. But if you do make one, please try to make is as fun as this game! Games should be fun!

Great Thread/Post. This is what Ubisoft does best: creating games you can play however you like. This is not my style at all, but what’s great is that we can both play the game exactly how we both prefer and it’s fun for both of us. Not many game franchises make that possible. You would probably love Far Cry 5 if you haven’t already tried it... it’s even less realistic, but by your definition, more fun.

I played Far Cry 5. I did not like the kidnapping and brainwashing stuff. I also did not like the first person view. I posted a thread in the Far Cry 5 forums where I said that the game steals its own fun. That being said, I figured out how to make a flying car in Far Cry 5, and that was one of my favorite moments in gaming:
